About US:
Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Uganda Chapter is a Non-Governmental Organization established in 1997 as part of the wider FAWE Network to address gender disparities in Education.

Job Summary: The Project Officer will be part of the programs team and shall provide support in planning, budgeting and implementation of the “Building Resilience: Education Opportunities in Fragile and Crisis Affected Environments” project activities in Lamwo Refugee Settlement. She/he has to ensure that high quality work is done in the delivery of services towards achieving the objectives of the project.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Actively participate in the Project Planning and budgeting processes
  • Ensure that project specific activities are effectively and efficiently implemented as per project calendar
  • Coordinate the trainings of different beneficiary categories as per the project work plan
  • Organize and coordinate meetings with different categories as outlined in the project work plan
  • Ensuring proper follow-up for proper implementation of outlined activities among different stakeholders
  • Actively participate in the coordination of meetings with other settlement stakeholderssuch as OPM, UNHCR, consortium members, other operating partners and the district local government
  • Prepare and submit good quality reports to the immediate supervisor in a timely manner
  • Ensure clear documentation of project success stories as well as filing and maintaining all project documents in both soft and hard copy and share on regular basis with the supervisor.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Sciences, Social Work and Social Administration, Development Studies, Adult and Community Education or related field is essential
  • Three years of work experience with an international or local NGO in refugee emergency context.
  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Statistical Packages)
  • Knowledge of Acholi language is a must
  • Knowledge of Arabic will be an added advantage
  • Working knowledge of project planning and management
  • Demonstrated capacity building skills
  • High standard of integrity, discretion and loyalty
  • Actively seeks out feedback on their performance (both results and behaviors) with a view to continuous learning and growing
  • Self-driven and able to work under minimal supervision
  • Build relationships –ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others both internally and externally to achieve the goals of the organization
  • Demonstrated report writing skills
  • An excellent understanding of the concepts and practices of participatory development approaches
  • Financial management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
