Job Title:         Assistant Operations Manager

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Systems rights and administration: Management
    and control of all system rights, including periodical Rights reviews and
    implementation.
  • Training and development: Responsible
    for carrying out all trainings of Operations staff in policies, processes,
    procedures and products and services offered by the bank in liaison with
    the training department.
  • Reconciliation of Accounts:
    • Responsible for monitoring
      and tracking all accounts used by Operations to make sure that the
      balances on them are accurate and help the branches resolve all
      inconsistences and differences on the GLs.
    • Product/service development
      in the different systems. This includes working with product pre and post
      testing in the systems to ensure conformity to the desired results.
  • Reporting and submission of required
    reports to the regulator and any other stakeholder.
  • General system authorizations including
    RTGs and EFT processing before handing over to finance.
  • Deputizing in the absence of the
    Operations Manager.
  • Perform any other duties as may be
    assigned from time to time.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s
    degree in any of the numerate business related subjects from a reputable
    university
  • Five years of overall relevant working
    experience preferable in banking Operations.
  • Banking Operations Management Experience
  • Practical management experience in
    managing and supervising branch operations
  • Practical experience in setting and
    implementation of operations, risk management policies, practices, procedures
    and guidelines
Banking Compliance Regulations and Legal Legislation
  • Extensive knowledge of the micro finance
    and banking industry including micro and macro environmental factors and
    trends, micro finance products and poverty eradication strategies
  • Broad knowledge of related statutory
    banking compliance regulations, banking laws, business law, local
    employment and labour laws, internal operational policies and procedures,
    and transformation, lending, and banking products and services
  • Ability to build and maintain positive
    relationships with all stakeholders and regulatory bodies
Planning and Performance Management
  • Experience in department planning,
    implementation, monitoring and control processes, specifically in the
    areas of banking Operations, outreach, sustainability, transformation and
    banking product performance
  • Ability to plan, co-ordinate and monitor
    own work plan and for the direct reports
  • Ability to assess achievement against
    performance targets for direct reports, taking corrective action and
    rewarding employees as appropriate
  • Excellent organization, delegation,
    performance management, administration, and time management skills
Reporting and Communication Skills
  • Exceptional oral and written communication
    skills with the ability to communicate clearly and persuasively, interpret
    documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence; speak
    clearly to third parties and employees
  • Ability to meet reporting expectations of
    the Operations Manager

  • Strong team building skills and experience
    with the ability to enthuse, inspire, develop and motivate employees
