About CHAU:
Community Health Alliance Uganda (CHAU), formerly the International
HIV/AIDS Alliance Uganda, is a national Non-Governmental Organization (NGO)
which was registered in 2010. It works in partnership with other Community
based Organizations (CBOs)/ local NGOs to support community action on
integrated Sexual reproductive health and HIV/AIDS in Uganda. CHAU is an
affiliate and accredited to International HIV/AIDS Alliance as its Linking
Organization. This partnership facilitates CHAU to engage and collaborate with
IHAA’s global network which includes over 40 independent organizations spread
across the world. CHAU through its global strategic partnerships, is able learn
from and adapt international best practices and experiences to the local
context in the areas of organizational development, capacity building,
community systems strengthening, Advocacy and quality service delivery.
Job Summary: The Finance
Officer will verify, process transactions, monitor, report and maintain
financial data/ information ensure staff compliance to the finance policies and
provide technical support to CHAU IPs and staff in line with CHAU policies,
International accounting standards and other statutory requirements and verify
authenticity of payments and accountability documents and process financial
transactions for CHAU in line with CHAU policies, International Accounting
Standards, statutory requirements and Best practice.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·        
The incumbent will update the CHAU accounting
systems and Maintain accurate up to date financial records in line with CHAU
policies, International Accounting Standards, statutory requirements and Best
practice
·        
Keenly analyze, monitor and Reconcile financial
records, in line with CHAU policies, International Accounting Standards,
statutory requirements and Best practice
·        
Prepare the monthly payroll and ensure
completeness and timely submission of statutory deductions to the relevant
authorities (URA, NSSF and Local Government)
·        
Verify authenticity of payments and
accountability documents and  process
financial transactions for CHAU in line with CHAU policies, International
Accounting Standards, statutory requirements and Best practice
·        
Update the CHAU accounting systems and Maintain
accurate up to date financial records in line with CHAU policies, International
Accounting Standards, statutory requirements and Best practice
·        
Analyze, monitor and Reconcile financial
records, in line with CHAU policies, International Accounting Standards,
statutory requirements and Best practice
·        
Prepare the monthly payroll and ensure
completeness and timely submission of statutory deductions to the relevant
authorities (URA, NSSF and Local Government)



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
·        
The applicant should preferably hold a
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Financial Management or
Accounting from a recognized university, Part CPA, ACCA
·        
At least two years working experience in
accounting and finance preferably in an NGO sector
·        
Donor financial accounting procedures
·        
GAAP, IAS/AFRS accounting requirements and
budgeting
·        
Word, Excel, financial information systems,
vision excel and executive, as well as database and accounting packages.
·        
Tax laws and systems in Uganda
·        
Operations of sub grant partners/community based
organizations
·        
Budgeting and budgetary control
·        
Analytical skills
·        
Asset/inventory management
·        
Capacity building skills
·        
Communication and networking skills
·        
Proven integrity
·        
Excellent interpersonal skills
