full range of programmes including examinations, project management on behalf
of other donors, and its own grant funded projects. British Council has
operated in Uganda since 1952 and its aim is to build cultural and educational
relations between Uganda and the UK. 
Job Summary: The Project
Officer will plan, promote, manage, deliver and evaluate events and project
outputs, working with partners and stakeholders to meet the Council’s strategic
objectives under the British Council’s Education, Society and Arts’
programmes.  
 
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
Product / Service / Project Delivery:  Deliver high quality events and
project activity working with partners and stakeholders in order to meet
global, regional and country plans. Manage, plan and co-ordinate events. This
will include:
  • Delivering / implementing assigned project
    activity and deliverables from annual work plan, using assigned resources
    efficiently and cost effectively to deliver required income, impact and
    profitability targets for agreed service/product/programme delivery within
    country.
  • Formulating activity plans/schedules and
    activity budgets for delivery of activity components, monitoring progress
    against plan/schedules and adjusting accordingly.
  • Offering timely logistical support in the
    delivery of internal and external activities/events, to ensure they run
    smoothly and efficiently.
  • Working effectively with partners, clients
    and customers in delivering quality effective activities.
  • Actively contributing to risk management
    of programme activity.
Monitoring & Evaluation and Contact Database Management: Performs
straightforward analysis, manipulation and interpretation of data, tasks or
information, presenting findings/results accurately and appropriately to
support effective maintenance of management information systems and evaluation
of project outputs. This will include, among others:
  • Tasked with planning and implementing
    questionnaire surveys, including Scorecard, and collate, analyse and
    report on the results as/when required
  • Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date
    database of contacts engaged within the portfolio of projects
  • Prepare case studies and compelling impact
    stories that can be used in evaluation of long-term, sustainable  outcomes and personalisation of project
    impacts
  • Ensuring that agreed project targets are
    met (or exceeded)
Marketing and Communications: Support the delivery of agreed
marketing and communications strategy outputs. This will include, but not
limited to:
  • Actively contributing to effective
    communication and marketing plans for project activities and completing
    allocated tasks / outputs to BC brand and quality standards
  • Working with agencies to ensure that
    promotional and branded materials meet branding standards
  • Managing content of publications of
    various project materials
Equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and Child Protection standards:
  • Assist the Project Manager to ensure that
    project delivery and activities reflect British Council EDI policy.
  • Ensure that Child Protection policy and
    Child Safe standards are followed and maintained for all relevant
    projects, and all specific aspects within projects.
Other duties: Financial management tasks for assigned project
activity budgets
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The applicant for the British Council
    Project Officer job placement should possess a University Degree.              
  • Project management qualification is
    desired
  • Experience in event planning and management is desired
  • Previous work on Education and Society
    related programmes is an added advantage
  • Prior experience/skills in project or
    programme delivery
  • Broad knowledge of SAP or another finance
    planning/procurement/ reporting systems an advantage
  • Ability to work in diverse teams, both
    Face-to-Face and virtually           
  • Previous proven experience of working to
    support multi-partner funded projects, and a range of outsourced partners
  • Prior exposure and experience of working
    to tight deadlines and targets, giving close attention to detail
    throughout
Skills and Knowledge

systems/procedures, and has proven track record, as a project team member, of
compliance with these.
