About Us:
Busara Center for Behavioral Economics is a US non-profit research
organization that seeks to improve the understanding of how people living in
poverty make decisions and to leverage that knowledge to produce better social
outcomes. We do have offices in Kenya, a new office in Uganda, and active
projects in Tanzania, Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Ghana. It enables researchers to
conduct rigorous laboratory-based studies in behavioural economics in a
developing country and applying the outcomes of research to real-world
problems.
About Project:
The study is a Randomized Control Trial (RCT) that will be done in
various communities in Uganda. It will entail conducting household interviews
and focus group discussions.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:   
  • Administering surveys appropriately
  • Actively facilitating individual and
    group-based exercises
  • Preparing and submitting daily reports to
    supervisor
  • Build rapport with respondents
  • Coordinating with team members on field
    activities
  • Perform any other duty as assigned by a
    supervisor.
     
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant for the Field Officer should
    preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in social sciences,
    economic, development studies and/or business administration.
  • Prior experience in qualitative and
    quantitative data collection- show proof of this in application.
  • Excellent command of the specified
    languages
  • Previous experience in facilitating focus
    group discussions
  • Experience in administering house hold
    surveys (mandatory)
  • Experience using computer assisted
    interviewing or ODK is a plus
  • Have the following qualities: diligence,
    good organization, a positive attitude, active and respectful listening
    skills, strong interpersonal skills and a passion to work with
    communities.
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills
    (mandatory)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal
    skills
  • Ability to facilitate individual and
    group-based exercises
  • Ability to recognize when questions are
    difficult or unclear to subjects
  • Excellent note taking skills during
    interviews
  • Ability to work in a fast paced
    environment with minimal supervision
  • Excellent oral and written communication
    skills in English, Runyoro and Rutooro (mandatory).
Duration: Successful
candidates shall be hired for a duration of about 3- 4 weeks.
