ZOA is an International Christian Non-Governmental Organisation for
Humanitarian and Rehabilitation Assistance. We operate in 17 countries in
Africa and Asia. Our mission is to assist in rebuilding the livelihoods of
peoples who are affected by warfare, conflict or natural disaster. Our
programmes in Uganda concentrate in the Acholi and Karamoja regions on Food
Security, Livelihoods/Economic Development, Primary and Civic Education and
WASH in close cooperation with counterpart structures.
Job Summary: The Project
Manager Human Rights, Good Governance, Gender Equality will plan and implement
a ZOAs human rights, good governance and gender equality project(s) in
partnership with local CBO’s. Topics include the drive against FGM and
Functional Adult Literacy.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:   
  • Plans
    and implements activities and facilitates implementation of the human
    rights, good governance and gender equality project(s).
  • Offers
    technical support and follows up on implementation plans of local
    CBO’s
  • Ensures
    monitoring and reporting of activities in line with donor requirements,
    both ZOA’s and CBO’s
  • Manages
    finances and expenditures according to the budget
  • Contributes
    to preparation and planning of projects and provide input for new
    proposals
  • Motivates
    and stimulates and supervises ZOA staff working on allocated projects and
    CBO’s
  • Stimulates
    good team spirit and Christian fellowship among programme staff.
  • Builds
    and strengthen good relationships with local authorities, other
    organizations and actors in the project(s).
     
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:  
  • The
    ideal candidate for the ZOA Project Manager Human Rights, Good
    Governance, Gender Equality career opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, Social
    sciences, Education, Gender or other relevant field
  • A
    minimum of four years’ experience in project management
  • Good
    management, planning, communication, reporting and facilitation skills
  • Excellent
    command of English
  • Inventive,
    creative and enthusiastic person (able to develop the best
    approach)
  • Good
    computer skills,
  • Self
    motivator, having the ability to work with limited supervision
  • Previous
    experience in working with national partners
  • Knowledge
    of Pokot and Swahili is an advantage
  • Stable personality who enjoys working with
    little supervision and in a dynamic environment.
  • (S) he should have the ability to endure
    some hardship.
  • Possess a mature personality able to integrate
    and express Christian values like love and inclusiveness in rehabilitation
    work.
  • Willingness
    to live and work in Amudat district
