11619. AFOD Uganda seeks to work closely with rural and urban poor communities
across the country to address their real needs and build local partnership with
institutions/communities and support community structures to jointly identify
and address the underlying causes of poor health and steer social change.
Job Summary: The Cash and
Food Distribution Monitor will be managing and coordinating the distribution of
cash and food, providing technical guidance to stakeholders and beneficiaries
for decision making.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • In
    charge of verifying and updating the beneficiary lists for any
    inconsistencies and reporting back to the team leader.
  • Actively
    participate in the preparation of weekly and monthly food/cash
    distribution plans and schedules to be submitted to the immediate
    supervisor within given deadlines;
  • Actively
    promoting the participation of the FMC and community in the food distribution
    with a particular attention to gender representation in all activities;
  • Ensuring
    regular information sharing with the community and the partners
  • Ensuring
    adequate protection and assistance for the vulnerable groups and People
    with
  • Specific Needs during the distribution
    exercise.
  • The
    jobholder will be facilitating the training of Food Management Committees
    providing guidance to its members on food distribution procedures,
    schedules and rations
  • Conducting
    regular meetings – pre-and post-distribution – with the relevant camp
    committee members in order to ensure timely and accurate dissemination of
    information as well as preparation and implementation of the food
    distributions;
  • Informing
    the community of the planned distribution stating commodities in
    the food basket, cash transfer amount and entitlement per beneficiary, distribution
    dates, FDPs and roles for respective players
  • Ensuring
    that refugee community leaders are involved and participate in all
    the phases of distribution exercise including females.
  • Arranging
    for food reception and facilitate smooth distribution ensuring that the
    most vulnerable members in the community are catered for.
  • Ensuring
    food delivery documents are recorded and signed appropriately
  • The
    jobholder will be ensuring safety of all records and distribution
    materials at the distribution centres.
  • Actively
    participating in the monitoring and verification of the target beneficiary
    population;
  • Actively
    participate in the regular data collection, analysis and reporting
    on food distribution;
  • Responsible
    for recruiting and training daily hires for offloading and scooping of
    food  commodities in collaboration
    with FMCs
     
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant should preferably hold a University degree in one or more of
    the following disciplines: Social science, public administration,
    business administration, nutrition and agricultural related field from a recognized
    institution/ university.
  • A minimum of two years of working
    experience in community development work with an NGO or UN agency in
    related field.
  • Previous experience with food distributions
    or cash transfers is added advantage.
  • Behavioural: Code of conduct as
    relevant to procurement and logistics, commitment, time management/
    ability to work for longer hours, loyalty, patience, emotional intelligence
    and Tolerance
  • Skills: Comprehensive understanding
    and good working knowledge of word and excel, fluency in both oral and
    written English, very good report writing and presentation skills,
  • Inter-personal Communication and public
    relations, basic research skills and client handling
