About USAID MCSP Program:
USAID’s Maternal and Child Survival program aims to accelerate the
reduction of Maternal, new born and child Mortality in USAID Priority countries
with high disease burden such as Uganda though scaling up evidence based high
impact interventions. Building on Experience, MCSP addresses major causes of
mortality by influencing and implementing high impact and innovative
interventions at scale based on the country context and data; building global
consensus and sustained government commitment to support MNCH interventions;
maximizing the use and integration of local programs
Job Summary: The Drivers
will primarily be responsible for ensuring the safety of program vehicles and
the people who travel in them. In addition, the Drivers will ensure that the
vehicles are well-maintained as by Uganda government laws to support
implementation of program activities. These two positions will be based in
Kampala, or any other duty station as will be communicated, with frequent
travels to designated districts in Uganda. One of the drivers will be a Lead
Driver.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Ensure that the vehicle assigned is clean
    and maintained in good ‘ working condition at all times.
  • Drive the vehicle to the assigned
    destination(s) and DO NOT assign the vehicle to any other driver, unless
    authorized by the supervisor, Finance and Administration Director (FAD) or
    other members of the Senior Management Committee (SMC).
  • Park the vehicle at the required parking
    time.
  • Keenly monitor fuel consumption on the
    card and communicate to the responsible Finance and Administration Manager
    (FAM) on a regular basis.
  • Maintain and update the log book(s) at all
    times with correct information such as mileage, fuel loaded, location,
    activity, and program.
  • Conduct regular checks for and ensure
    validity of insurance, fire extinguishers, first aid boxes, oil, etc.
  • Report all vehicle faults,
    damages/accidents, repairs and services requirements on time.
  • Conduct a daily assessment of the vehicle
    to maintain the highest level of standards.
  • The incumbent will report any vehicle
    misuse to the supervisor and/or FAD.
  • Ensure timely servicing, maintenance of
    vehicle in accordance with vehicle manufacturing specifications
  • Mange and supervise drivers (one of the
    drivers will be a lead driver)
  • Perform any other duties as may be
    assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:  
The applicant for the
USAID MCSP Driver job opportunity must hold a valid driving permit,
qualification and experience to perform the aforementioned tasks
