Program for Accessible health, Communication and Education (PACE) is
the local branch of Population Services International (PSI), one of the world’s
leading non-profit social marketing organization. We work to make it easier for
people in the developing world to be healthy by providing access to products
and services that range from mosquito nets to HIV testing.
About PEPFAR Project:
PACE is part of a consortium that is implementing a (5+ years) project
aimed at reducing the HIV incidence, and mortality related to HIV and TB and
develop capacity for the region and the country to plan, coordinate and sustain
HIV epidemic control. The program will accelerate Epidemic Control in Mubende
Region under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). In
partnership with Mildmay Uganda and support from CDC, PACE’s primary role will
be to PACE’s to strengthen community systems to yield high HIV case finding,
linkages and community based support for retention in HIV care and prevention.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:   
  • Maintain
    assigned vehicles under road worthy condition in line with PSI and National
    requirements to reduce on the rate of tare and ware (corrosion) for an
    effective length of service.
  • Transport
    staff and authorized person(s) to a required destination and back.
  • The
    jobholder will also transport and deliver PSI mails or goods to the
    specified destinations while operating and parking vehicles with
    maximum security of supplies to minimize losses and damage to PSI property
    while in transit.
  • Update
    trip movement records and account for funds spent on driving operations in
    line with PSI Accounting procedures
  • Maintain
    the cleanliness of the vehicle and the image of PSI to the public in line
    with the organizational requirements and the Uganda road safety guidelines
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the PEPFAR Driver
    job placement should hold an O’ Level
    education and above.
  • Possess
    a valid/clean driving permit with not less than three years’
    experience classes B, CM, and D
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations
    and skills in minor vehicle repair.
  • Working
    knowledge of the rules and regulations involved in the safe and efficient
    operation of automotive equipment.
  • Defensive
    driving skills training a MUST
  • Basic
    knowledge of computer especially word and excel
  • Ability
    to work in a team and good communication skills fluent in English
  • Ability
    to work under pressure and minimum supervision
  • Extensive
    knowledge of basic automotive maintenance procedures.
  • Ability
    to operate a van or small bus.
