prevails.” Caritas Uganda is a member of the Caritas International is
Confederation whose headquarters are in Rome, serving humanity in many
countries globally. Locally, Caritas Uganda works through its vast network of
Caritas established in all 19 Catholic Dioceses in Uganda. Our core mandate is
development and emergency response.
Job Summary: The
Humanitarian Emergency Coordinator will perform operational guidance of the
field officers and coordinate the implementation and follow-up of Caritas
Uganda emergency, rehabilitation, and resilience strategies in the affected
dioceses. The coordinator will exhibit the spirit of passion to the cause of
the displaced and marginalised persons.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Carries out assessments, reviews, and
    interpret results and recommend appropriate actions in the face of
    emergencies within Uganda.
  • Oversee, coordinate and supervise the
    implementation of emergency projects of Caritas Uganda
  • Coordinate and liaise with partners and
    stakeholders – represent Caritas in interagency coordination meetings and
    programming exercises undertaken by the humanitarian actors
  • Offer strategic planning and project
    development – support Caritas Uganda in resources mobilization for
    emergency programmes. Lead in identification of strategic priorities for
    Caritas role in emergencies within the Country.
  • Reviews and updates policies, programs,
    and procedures ensuring inclusion of any new emergency requirements both
    national and international.
  • Keenly monitor and report as per Caritas
    Uganda and Caritas International’s Humanitarian response principles and
    guidelines
  • Provide support in setting-up emergency
    assessment and response teams immediately to address new emergencies and
    build capacity of diocesan emergency team.
  • Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate should preferably hold
    an advanced University degree (Master’s or equivalent) in a discipline
    relevant to the mandate of the Organization.
  • At least five years’ experience in humanitarian
    emergency contexts
  • A minimum of five years of professional
    experience in coordinating humanitarian projects
  • Foundation in programme formulation,
    planning, implementation, management and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using standard
    office software applications.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal
    communications skills
