About US:
The Insurance Institute of Uganda (IIU) is the training arm of the
Insurance Industry in Uganda. It is also the representative insurance
professional body under the Law. IIU is licensed by the National Council for Higher
Education (NCHE) as a private tertiary institution.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Provide strategic and operational
    direction for the training department
  • Draft annual budgets, work plans and
    forecasts for the department.
  • Provide strategic Training and research
    related advice to management and GC on key decisions taken by the
    institute.
  • Actively participate in the development
    and implementation of the institute policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Actively promote the training and
    certification of licensed insurance professionals
  • Conduct research that leads to development
    of professional insurance products and services
  • Tasked with designing, planning,
    organizing and communicating trainings, course scheduling, workshops and
    seminars for members
  • Responsible for monitoring and managing
    the quality of teaching and ensuring availability of logistical
    requirements for all study centers
  • Managing the development of training
    materials as per the curriculum requirements
  • Tasked with soliciting for consultancies
    for the Institute
  • In charge of selecting, developing and
    retaining the right Human Resources for the department.
  • Drawing up a training and development plan
    for the department and ensure that the capacities of the department team
    are developed to meet the objectives of the Institute. 
     
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate should preferably hold
    a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Education or related field
  • Possession of a Master’s Degree in
    Business, Education Management or related field
  • Professional qualification in Insurance is
    desirable
  • A minimum of five years in teaching and
    research with three years’ experience at managerial level
  • Strategic and leadership skills.
  • Possess excellent oral and written
    communication skills.
