About US:
The Makerere University Walter Reed Project (MUWRP) is a non-profit HIV
research program that was established in 2002 as a result of a memorandum of
understanding between Makerere University and The Henry M. Jackson foundation
for Advancement of Military Medicine Inc. of USA (HJF). The primary purpose of
MUWRP is to develop, evaluate and provide interventions to mitigate disease
threats of public health importance to Uganda.
Job Summary: The Senior Data
Entry Specialists will ensure timely and correct entry of all data including
survey data and routine program data (SMC, OVC, Prevention, HTC) into
databases. The Senior Data Entry Specialist will carry out other duties
relating to hard copy data archiving, alert teams on report submission
guidelines and completeness and work closely with QAQC team to ensure data
quality is maintained.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • The jobholder will support HMIS/ District
    Biostatisticians/PSWOs to ensure timely and accurate entry of reports into
    DHIS2& OVC MIS.
  • Ensure that all facilities and program
    units have the required data collection and reporting tools
  • Establish a reporting tracking system that
    provides program and facility staff with timely updates on pending,
    incomplete and missing reports.
  • Work closely with the Data, M&E, QA/QC
    team and MoH personnel to conduct data quality assurance and perform
    control checks for completeness, consistency and accuracy of data before
    report submission/ entry into DHIS2, HIBRIRD and OVC MIS and other MUWRP
    data reporting systems.
  • Check DHIS 2 and SMS weekly, monthly and
    quarterly reporting for timeliness and accuracy of reporting and follow up
    to ensure 100% reporting
  • Enter Program data into electronic data
    bases as provided by MUWRP.
  • Verify data entered into the computer by
    checking data tables for errors and correcting as required, perform
    logical checks to ascertain quality of data entered.
  • Actively participate in verification of
    data capture forms to locate missing information and take necessary steps
    for correction.
  • Keenly monitor the system for
    malfunctions, reports malfunctions to the immediate supervisor.
  • Supervise collection & submission of
    accurate and timely reports required for PEPFAR reporting and MUWRP data
    management systems (EMR, OVC data base, Prevention).
  • Work closely with IT department to ensure
    proper storage, filing and backup of project documents and data.
  • Actively participate in the retrieval of
    information from the system as and when required.
  • The jobholder will exercise and maintain
    confidentiality of client information at all times.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by
    the supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the Senior Data
    Entry Specialist job opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s degree in
    Statistics
  • A minimum of three years’ experience
    supporting M&E for HIV/AIDS MoH and PEPFAR supported programs.
  • Possess excellent report writing skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and
    prioritize tasks within deadlines.
  • Broad knowledge of Ministry of Health and
    Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development M&E processes.
