bank is a fast growing commercial bank offering a variety of innovative
products and services. DFCU Limited was started by the Commonwealth Development
Corporation (CDC) of the United Kingdom and the Government of Uganda through
the Uganda Development Corporation (UDC) under the name of Development Finance
Company of Uganda Limited. Later restructuring brought in DEG (of Germany) and
International Finance Corporation (IFC) as equal partners with CDC and UDC,
each having a 25% stake in the company. Its objective was to support long-term
development projects whose financing needs and risk did not appeal to the then existing
financial commercial lending institutions.

Job Summary: The Collection
Executive will proactively collect, restructure and recover the allocated loan
portfolio in accordance with the statutory and internal policies to ensure
optimal performance of the facilities and minimise loss to the Bank hence
directly contributing to the Bank’s P&L.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:   
  • The
    incumbent will achieve agreed portfolio numbers on collections and
    recoveries.
  • Manage
    net credit losses for allocated portfolio within budget; i.e. maintain
    provisions & suspended interest within budget.
  • The
    incumbent will also ensure compliance with BOU regulations and dfcu Bank’s
    internal policies and procedures on asset classification and
    provisioning.
  • Maximize
    recovery and minimize expenses.
     
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The applicant for the DFCU Bank Collection
    Executive career opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Economics,
    Statistics, Commerce, Business Administration or equivalent.
  • One
    to two years’ experience in a Financial Institution.
  • Thorough
    understanding of the Bank’s Credit policies.
  • Broad
    knowledge of the FIA asset classification guidelines.
  • Excellent
    interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • High
    level of customer service, good negotiation skills with a
    commercial focus.
  • Decision
    making within set procedures.
  • High
    standards of performance (eye for detail)
  • Computer
    literacy i.e. proficiency in the use of Word and Excel. PowerPoint is an
    added advantage.
