About US:
The Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is an international non-profit
organization which is a partnership of infectious diseases and public health
specialists. The overall objective of the IDI is to strengthen health systems
with strong emphasis on Infectious Diseases, through Research and Capacity
Development. IDI has five operational areas through which it works to achieve
its mission: Prevention, Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory
services (provided through a partnership with the Makerere University – John
Hopkins University Core Lab) and Outreach.
About Project:
As part of its comprehensive HIV/AIDS services, the Infectious Diseases
Institute (IDI) offers free Voluntary Male Medical Circumcision for HIV
prevention in the Mid-Western and West Nile regions of Uganda.
Job Summary: The Data Officer
will be responsible for site level data management. He / She will ensure the
complete, accurate and timely filling of data in HMIS tools and, abstract and
enter all data into appropriate software in a timely manner. The incumbent will
participate in data analysis and compilation of the required site specific
reports.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Using the appropriate MoH tools (HMIS),
    capture SMC clients’ data as required and ensure that client charts and
    all related documents are securely filed at the end of each activity day
    as required.
  • Abstract and input clerical data into the
    relevant system using appropriate software packages
  • Regularly review data for accuracy and
    completeness
  • Actively participate in analysis and
    interpretation of data
     
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The applicant for the Data Officer job
    placement should preferably hold a diploma in Information technology,
    information systems, computer science, statistics or any other relevant
    field.
  • At least two years working experience in
    data management in a health related field.
  • Computer
    literacy skills i.e. proficiency in Excel, Word, Power Point
  • Knowledge
    of the Health Information Management System
  • Demonstrated
    ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
