About RSCE:
The Regional Service Centre Steering Committee is the decision-making
body for RSCE, in compliance with General Assembly resolutions, United Nations
Secretariat rules and regulations, strategic guidance from United Nations
Headquarters and oversight bodies. The Steering Committee consults with the
Global Field Support Strategy Implementation Coordination Team, as required.
The Regional Service Centre, as approved by the Member States, is
owned, managed and staffed by the regional missions it serves. This framework
reinforces the existing missions’ chain of command structures and lines of
authority in a manner that does not create an additional layer between
Headquarters and the regional missions. It also ensures that staffing for RSC.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:   
Within limits of
delegated authority, the Training Assistant is responsible for the following
duties:
·        
Actively
contributes to the design, organization and delivery of training and
development programmes, including the Civilian Pre-deployment Training (CPT)
course, for the enhancement of competencies and upgrading of staff technical
skills and to meet mandate implementation.
·        
Contributes
to the development of systems and methods for disseminating information to CPT
participants on course requirements, including distance learning, self-study
and other sources of learning.
·        
The
jobholder delivers specialized CPT course sessions that meet cross-cutting
training needs such as UN Conduct & Discipline and prevention of Sexual
Exploitation and Abuse.
·        
Significantly
contributes to the design of specific training programmes to meet unique
peacekeeping operational requirements and staff development needs.
·        
The
Training Assistant collects and maintains statistical data on training activities
and responds to queries and requests for information on training programmes.
·        
Contributes
to the preparation and monitoring of budgetary allocations through regular
reviews.
·        
Acts
as the focal point for coordination, monitoring and expedition of various
development activities targeting the CPT Team and involving extensive liaison
with other relevant offices.
·        
Drafts
routine and adhoc outputs and correspondence, as required.
·        
Performs
any other duties, as assigned.
Key Performance Indicators:
·        
Effectively contributes to the design,
development, delivery and evaluation of training and development programmes and
delivers a wide range of administrative, logistics and office support
functions, including support to the CPT course, under moderate supervision.
·        
Regularly assists in drafting routine
correspondence and other communications.
·        
Accurately and in a timely manner, produces a
range of documents, reports and other outputs.
·        
Appropriately applies relevant policies,
guidelines, procedures and processes.
·        
Establishes effective working relationships with
internal and external contacts at all levels.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
·        
The ideal candidate for the United Nations
Regional Service Centre Entebbe (RSCE) Training Assistant job should possess a High school diploma or equivalent is
required.
·        
Additional
technical certification in design and delivery of training to adults and design
and provision of adult learning opportunities is highly desirable.
·        
At least five
(05) years of progressively responsible experience in the field of
design, delivery and evaluation of training courses or related areas such as
assessing training needs and planning training programmes.
·        
Previous experience delivering training to adults is required. Experience
working in a multicultural and/or international work environment is
highly desirable. UN field mission experience is also highly desirable.
·        
Advanced
computer knowledge (MS Office, Access, Outlook); valid car driver license.
·        
Languages: Fluency in oral and
written English is required. Knowledge
of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

and in particular those related to peacekeeping training, staff development and
learning as well as general office and administrative support. Ability to work
well with figures, undertake basic research and gather information from
standard sources, including web-based sources. Shows pride in work and in

deadlines and achieving results; is motivated by professional rather than

as required; allocates appropriate amount of time and resources for completing

responds appropriately; asks questions to clarify, and exhibits interest

match audience; demonstrates openness in sharing information and keeping people
