The
Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is an international non-profit organization
which is a partnership of infectious diseases and public health specialists.
The overall objective of the IDI is to strengthen health systems with strong
emphasis on Infectious Diseases, through Research and Capacity Development. IDI
has five operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission:
Prevention, Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory services
(provided through a partnership with the Makerere University – John Hopkins
University Core Lab) and Outreach.
Job Summary: The Research Capacity Building Coordinator will manage
research-related scholarships/fellowships and trainings. The incumbent will be
responsible for developing annual calendars for the recruitment and evaluation
of scholars’ milestones and productivity. In addition, he/she is responsible
for organizing research-related trainings and dissemination. The research
coordinator will take responsibility in the following areas;
  • Creates systems for the implementation of
    research capacity building programs
  • Prepares program reports and summaries
  • Serves as a key liaison between scholars and
    management
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should hold a Bachelor’s degree
    in a health-related discipline, formal training in project management will
    be desirable
  • At least three years’ experience preferably
    in a research environment
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication
    skills
  • Demonstrated initiative and self-management
    skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to build and maintain
    relationships with individuals and teams
  • He/she must be a diverse individual, showing
    organizational and communication skills and be capable of working
    individually and in a team environment.
