About US:
The
Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council is a semi-autonomous Health Professional
body under the MOH established by Uganda Nurses and Midwives Act, 1996 to
regulate and supervise the provision of quality Nursing and Midwifery services
to the public. Its mandate is to set and regulate standards of training and
practice of nursing and midwifery and provide professional guidance for public
safety.
Job Summary:  The Regional
Supervisor will support the Deputy Registrar in the coordination of UNMC
activities to ensure public safety within the respective areas of the office
jurisdiction
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Participate general supervision and
    regulation over all the nursing and midwifery professionals and health
    facilities, Health Training Institutions for nurses and midwives in the
    region
  • Actively participate in the investigation
    charges of malpractice, negligence or misconduct against a professional
    and make a full report to the Supervisor of the facts and circumstances of
    the charges
  • Maintain and update database in relation to
    nursing and midwifery professions in the region
  • Network and coordinate activities of District
    Health Supervisory Authorities in the region
  • The incumbent will report the name of any
    nursing and midwifery professional convicted of an offence and the nature
    of the offence committed as soon as the conviction comes to your knowledge
  • Report the death of any registered nurse or
    midwife as soon as information on death comes to your knowledge
  • Routinely inspect all nursing and midwifery
    health facilities in the region 
    applying for registration and renewal of operational license and
    advise on their suitability to offer the health services
  • Inspect any nursing or midwifery health
    facility with Enforcement Officer if necessary to certify whether
    provisions of the Nurses and Midwives Act are being complied with
  • Circulate information relating to all
    licensed nursing and midwifery health units in the region to the relevant
    authorities
  • Disseminate information from the head office
    to the relevant stakeholders in the region.
     
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should hold a Bachelors of
    Nursing Science Degree from a recognized awarding institution. Possession
    of a diploma in any leadership and or management science will be an added
    advantage
  • The applicant MUST have a valid Practicing
    License in nursing and midwifery professions
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a
    large and busy organization at the level of a Nursing Officer;
  • Possess a high level of integrity and
    professionalism
  • Good team player
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and
    pressure
  • The applicant should be knowledgeable in ICT
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Effective time keeping
  • Excellent oral and written communication
    skills
