organization representing the interests of the private health sector in Uganda.
UHF was formed in 2010 from the need to have a body which unites and represents
all players in the private health sector.
Job
Summary:
The Executive Director will be responsible for the
implementation of UHF’s current strategic goals and objectives, and be leading
in the strategy development; provide vision, direction and leadership toward
the achievement of UHF’s annual goals and objectives.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities: 
1. The incumbent will provide board
administration and support;
Support operations and
administration of the Board by advising and reporting to the Board and
interfacing between the Board and staff
2. Programme planning, development
and delivery:
·        
Implement and further develop the
current programmes;
·        
Design, deliver, and market new
programmes that fit within UHF’s strategy and to oversee those programmes
3. Resource mobilization and
marketing
:
·        
Responsible for developing and
sustaining a diverse funding base to ensure that adequate funds are available
for UHF to carry out its work; This includes identifying resource requirements,
researching funding sources, developing strategies to approach funders,
submitting proposals:
4. Financial, tax, risk and
facilities management:
·        
Develop and maintain sound financial
practices;
·        
Prepare and monitor the annual
budget for UHF;
·        
Oversee the organization’s resources
within those budget guidelines;
·        
Manage the preparation and execution
of the annual financial audit with external auditors.
5. Human resource management:
·        
Oversee the human resources of UHF
according to authorized personnel policies and procedures;
·        
Recruitment, hiring, staffing, and
supervision of all staff;
·        
Ensure that regular performance
evaluations of all staff;
·        
Annual review and update of the
Staff Manual and internal policies and regulations.
6. Community, public relations and
stakeholder management:
·        
Assures that the organization’s mission,
programmes and services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image
to relevant stakeholders and the community;
·        
Steer and improve stakeholder
engagement and management; Build strong coalitions with relevant organizations.
7. Monitoring. Evaluation and
Learning:
·        
Ensure sound implementation and
adherence to the internal programme and financial monitoring, evaluation and
learning activities by all staff;
·        
Develop and implement impact
evaluations of all programme activities to determine if they meet set goals and
objectives.
8. General responsibilities;
·        
Maintain a working knowledge of
significant developments and trends in UHF’s fields of work;
·        
Maintain official records and
documents, and ensure compliance with partner regulations.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience: 
·        
The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor’s
Degree in Business, Administration or Management; Social Science; Development
Studies or relevant field; Master’s Degree is an added advantage;
·        
At least five years NGO experience
of which experience in senior management position an advantage;
·        
Excellent understanding of the
private health sector
·        
Strong management, supervisory and
leadership skills for strategizing and coalition building; Demonstrates
effectiveness and lead experience in fund development;
·        
Possess the ability to identify,
steward and solicit individual donors;
·        
Demonstrates a strong network within
the NGO and donor sector and Government of Uganda;
·        
Past experience in working with and
developing an effective Board of Trustees;
·        
Computer literate;
·        
Possess a valid driver’s license.
·        
Excellent verbal and written
communication skills
·        
Visionary, trustworthy, diplomatic,
understanding and innovative with high energy level;
·        
Self-driven, proactive professional;
·        
Multi-cultural sensitivity;
·        
Good and open communicator who is a
critical thinker and has a strong personality;
·        
Impeccable level of integrity
