Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung Africa (HRNS) is a not-for- profit
organization established in 2005 with the objective of promoting sustainable
development. It implements hands- on projects to improve working and living
conditions of small-scale coffee farmers. Its activities concentrate on the
economic and social development of coffee producing communities.
Job Summary: The Head of Finance and Administration will lead a
small accounting team and be responsible for the full set of books of the
organization. The incumbent will ensure accurate recording of all accounting
transactions in compliance with IFRS accounting standards and Ugandan tax laws.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Oversee the processing of all accounting
    transactions and ensure that they are implemented in accordance with
    statutory regulations, corporate policy and Ugandan and respective IFRS
    regulations
  • In charge of preparing the monthly payroll
    and ensure accurate and timely processing
  • Responsible for external statutory
    financial reporting, preparation of statutory accounts and statutory
    audits
  • Actively participate in the creation,
    negotiation, filing and tracking of documentary issues
  • Render support in process improvement and
    special cross-functional projects to increase effectiveness and compliance
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should be a Certified
    Charted Accountant or hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree
  • At least three to five years’ experience,
    preferably within a not- for-profit organization
  • Past experience in financial systems,
    preferably SUN Accounting and Excel based analysis tools
  • Excellent working knowledge of Excel is a
    must
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles,
    procedures, and standards according to IFRS, statutory reporting and
    project accounting
  • Highly disciplined, well organized, able
    to work independently, flexible and able to work within tight timeframes
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication
    skills
  • Fluency and excellent command of English
    language
