Corps is an International NGO that exists to alleviate poverty and oppression
by helping people build secure, productive and just communities. Mercy Corps
has been fully registered in Uganda as an operational NGO. Currently Mercy
Corps has an office in Kampala and is implementing Food Security programs which
comprise of Water and Sanitation, Livelihood and Agriculture and Conflict
Mitigation Management Program in North and North Eastern Uganda. 
We implement programs in the northern
districts of Pader, Kitgum, Agago, Lamwo, Kaabong, Abim and Kotido with funding
from USAID, USDA, Walmart Foundation, SDC, DFID as well as other private
donations.
Job Summary: The
Administration Officer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Mercy
Corps internal administrative policies and procedures as well as donor
regulations
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure
    that the office is run in a professional and responsible manner including
    general contact and liaison with outside agencies.
  • Manage
    the organization of office meetings & workshops ensuring logistics are
    arranged and meetings are facilitated
  • Organize
    all domestic/international travel arrangements including flight bookings,
    accommodations reservations, visas, and ticketing for Mercy Corps staff
    and guests.
  • Support
    Mercy Corps headquarters/region in visa and travel requirements for all
    new employees and visitors coming into the country.
  • Maintain
    and send copies of all expatriate and national staff timesheets to
    Portland HQ whenever required to.
  • Ensure
    a good administrative filing system and ensure that it meets requirement.
  • Update
    and maintain a database of lease facilities and their documentation for
    the country Offices, from time to time process payments due in a timely
    manner.
  • Repairs
    and maintenance of residents including equipment and appliances
  • Participate
    in supplier identification and evaluations processes ensuring they meet
    standard and policy
  • Technically
    support in processing of permits for importation of commodities, and
    organize requested commodity Lab tests
  • Initiate
    posting of advertisement for vacancies, tenders and other postings on
    newspaper and media, process payments accordingly.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The
    applicant should possess a university degree in Business Administration
  • At
    least two to three years’ experience in administration
  • Ability
    to work in a diverse culture
  • Excellent
    communication skills
  • Excellent
    command of verbal and written English
  • Possess
    the ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize work
  • Keen
    attention to details of work
