Background:
The mission of the Infectious
Diseases Institute (IDI) is to strengthen health systems in Africa with strong
emphasis on infectious diseases through research and capacity development. IDI
has five operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission:
prevention, care and treatment; training; research, outreach; and laboratory
services (provided through a partnership with the Makerere University-John
Hopkins University Core Lab).
About E AMAKA Project:
The Infectious Diseases
Institute (IDI) offers free Safe Male Circumcision (SMC) services in Uganda as
part of a comprehensive HIV prevention package for adult men since April 2011.
Through an initiative, branded “E AMAKA – Expanded Adult Male Medical
Circumcision”, services have been scaled up in the districts of; Kampala,
Hoima, Kiboga, Kyankwanzi, Kiryandongo, Buliisa, Masindi and Kibaale.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Responsible
    for the compilation of the routine HMIS reports from supported facilities.
  • Actively
    support facility medical records focal persons to compile HMIS data
  • Making
    sure that completeness, consistency and accuracy of data captured in the
    HMIS tools at supported facilities
  • Carry
    out basic analysis of data to ensure its consistent and accurate
  • Ensuring
    availability of required HMIS tools i.e. registers, forms, guidelines etc
  • Carry
    out data abstraction from the HMIS and other sources for project reporting
  • Perform
    routine data entry into the project electronic management information
    system
  • Ensure
    completeness, consistency and accuracy of data captured in the project
    MIS.
  • Perform
    any other duties as required by the Data manager, site team leader and or
    M&E Specialist
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    applicants should hold Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • A
    minimum of two years’ experience in handling of medical data
  • Detailed
    working knowledge of Health Management Information System
  • Computer
    literacy skills i.e. Use of computers including word processing,
    spreadsheets, PowerPoint, email and Internet.
