About USAID Abt Project:
The USAID-funded Uganda IRS Phase II Project’s objective is to conduct a comprehensive spraying program and establish the foundation for sustainable, effective, high-quality indoor residual spraying (IRS) activities. Abt Associate is the prime contractor of this program.
Job Summary:  The Store Managers will actively support the transfer of skills from the project to staff within the districts to ensure that, over time, there is adequate local capacity to implement logistics support to spray operations with minimal external support.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Maintaining up-to-date inventory records (stock cards, ledgers).
  • Issuing goods to parish stores, in accordance with approved distribution plans.
  • Supervising part-time parish storekeepers, dispatch clerks and other temporary workers, as required.
  • At completion of each spray round, ensure removal of all goods and equipment from parish stores, and receiving them at the district level.
  • Ensure proper maintenance / repair of spray pumps.
  • Ensuring compliance and adherence with all relevant policies (e.g., environmental, security). Assist in the identification of candidates for the positions of parish storekeeper.
  • Conduct training of parish storekeepers, conducting ad hoc audits of parish stores.
  • Train / mentor district officials to incrementally take on all of the above tasks.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The candidate should hold a Diploma (minimum) or Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics and Supply Management or other similar field (desirable).
  • A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in stores management.
  • Excellent writing, computer and organizational skills.
  • Ability to independently plan and execute complex tasks while addressing daily management details and remain organized and focused on long-term deadlines.
  • Ability to assess problems and develop solutions.
  • Excellent inter-personal communication skills and excellent organization skills.
  • USAID or other donor USAID experience and knowledge of USAID FARs and AIDARs is highly desirable.
