About UEGCL:
Uganda Electricity Generation Company Ltd (UEGCL), a limited liability
company incorporated in March 2001 with the Head Office located in Jinja, is
one of the UEB successor companies. UEGCL’s key role is to manage the efficient
production of electricity power through power plant development and concession
monitoring. UEGCL is the implementing agency for the development of 2 power
projects namely, the 600MW Karuma Hydro Power Project (HPP) and the 183MW
Isimba Hydro Power Project (HPP).

Karuma HPP is a Public Project being developed by the Government of the
Republic of Uganda through a bilateral agreement with The People’s Republic of
China. Sinohydro Corporation Limited was contracted as the Engineering,
Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project.

Job Summary: The Senior
Accountant will mainly ensure the proper management and utilization of funds
allocated to or acquired by Uganda Electricity Generation Company Ltd (UEGCL).

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Actively coordinating the preparation of
UEGCL budgets. - Verifying, validating and approving financial transactions.
- Offering technical support to management
on matters regarding the budget, finances, financial management and
accountability. - Ensuring the timely preparation of
financial statements and reports. - Providing answers to any audit queries
regarding financial transactions. - Managing and mentoring accounting
operations and staff. - Developing management control systems and
mechanisms for the efficient and effective utilization of the fiscal
resources of the company and for proper financial accountability. - Reviewing and advising on internal
accounting regulations and procedures. - Participating in providing answers to
financial audit queries. - Perform any other duties as required by
the Manager, Finance and Administration
Qualifications, Skills &
Experience:
Experience:
- The Senior Accountant should possess a
Bachelors Degree in either Business Administration or Commerce - Additional accounting professional
qualification - At least five (5) years experience in a
reputable organization in similar position - Computer literacy skills
- Possess the ability to use either of the
following Accounting Software; SUN Accounting System or SAP - Possession of a valid driving licence and
experience will be an added advantage.
