About SACU:
Send a Cow Uganda, (SACU) is a
development Non-Governmental Organisation founded on Christian principles. Send
a Cow Uganda’s mission is to work with vulnerable people in Uganda to overcome
poverty and malnutrition in a sustainable and gender-responsive manner through
climate sensitive agriculture and animal production; economic empowerment; and
self sustaining smallholder farmer groups.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Plan,
    guide and oversee all aspects of project and programme assessment, design,
    implementation, monitoring and reporting.
  • Oversee,
    evaluate and approve programme, regional and project budgets, project
    funding requests expenditures and accomplishment of project objectives.
  • Make
    certain that the departmental strategy is guided by sound development
    principals, is regularly updated and effectively contributes to the
    mission of SACU
  • Ensure
    that all accounting systems and practices are in place within the
    department and that best practices are adhered to.
  • Supervise
    and support programme coordinators and field staff for enhanced programme
    delivery.
  • Ensure
    that high standards for efficient and effective implementation of the SACU
    model are upheld.
  • Maintain
    regular contact with other international NGO’s and government officials in
    an effort to obtain experience, best practice and obtain information on
    issues of national strategic directions and ensure SACU’s compliance and
    alignment.
  • Periodically
    assess the efficacy of the programme model in conjunction with the other
    SACU departmental managers.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    Programmes Operations Manager must possess an advanced university degree
    in any of the following fields: Veterinary Medicine, Agriculture, Social
    sciences, Business Administration or Development Studies. Possession of an
    additional professional qualification in project management is an added
    advantage.
  • He / she
    must also possess five or more years post-qualification experience with at
    least (4) years at a senior management position/ strategic leadership
    role.
  • He/she
    should have evident experience and a track record of liaising with
    development partners, developing and implementing development programs,
    working in partnerships, financial resource management, leadership and supervision
    of a team or teams of people.
  • Exhibit
    high level of professionalism and integrity, ability and readiness to
    support SACU’s spiritual and programmatic vision and mission.
