Job Summary: The EHS Specialist will mainly implement and
maintain Environmental, Health and Safety programs in agreement with corporate
and country rules and regulations. Overall responsibility for planning,
implementing and maintaining cost and methods to ensure employee safety, health
and environmental compliance.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Supports the development, planning and
    implementation of environmental health and safety policies and procedures
    within the company.
  • Ensures compliance and adherence with ILO
    and OSHA Regulations pertaining to environmental safety and handles all
    contact with appropriate agencies.
  • Develops and oversees all EHS training
    programs for employees in areas such as hazardous material handling,
    emergency response, industrial hygiene and life safety.
  • Ensures appropriate corrective action is
    taken where environmental, health and safety hazards exist.
  • Provide/promote employee
    awareness/training on matters of environmental, health and safety.
  • Evaluate both processes existing and
    proposed, relative their impact on environmental, health and safety
    compliance.
  • Implement and maintain site EHS management
    system and supporting processes.
  • Drives site initiatives to achieve EHS
    goals and objectives.
  • Obtain and maintain the required
    environmental permits and licenses as well as prepare and submit the
    required environmental applications, reports and letters to Government
    Agencies.
  • Conduct periodic self-audits to ensure that
    the operations conform to regulatory standards and company environmental,
    health and safety policies.
  • Coordinate the implementation of any
    initiative or requirement that directly affects EHS compliance.
  • Optimizes efficiencies to meet
    manufacturing goals and objectives by reducing and / or eliminating losses
    incurred by industrial injuries and illnesses.
  • Provide technical information and guidance
    to improve processes and systems in safety, engineering design of
    equipment, and new construction in the facility.
  • Interprets and practically applies /
    implements pertinent environmental, health and safety regulations to
    current business operations.
  • Completes annual reports related to
    hazardous waste generation, waste stream classification, emission
    summaries and other relevant documents.
  • Evaluates both processes existing and
    proposed, relative to their impact on environmental, health and safety
    compliance.
  • Writes and develops written environmental,
    health and safety programs.
  • Manage and review loss histories and OSHA
    Log summaries to identify trends and make recommendation to reduce and
    eliminate workplace hazards.
  • Communicate adverse trends to Sr.
    Management.
  • Perform incident analysis, develop and
    maintain and safety audit program to continually increase safety awareness
    throughout the organization.
  • Support Workers Compensation Program by
    assisting in case management, restriction interpretation, return-to-work
    initiatives and tracking LWD with cost to company
  • Remain current with environmental, health
    and safety regulatory changes. Participate in appropriate professional
    training.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The prospective EHS Specialist should
    possess a bachelor’s degree in Environmental or applied sciences
  • All candidates must have four or more
    years’ related experience in the management of Environmental Health &
    Safety programs,
  • Health administration and management in a
    manufacturing environment.
  • Dealing with Government Officials during
    audits and/or technical forms.
  • Project management experience (either
    directly or via sub-contractors).
  • Working Knowledge of OSHA / EPA
    Regulations.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple
    projects and daily responsibilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication
    skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the
    ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to discern and appropriately
    communicate sensitive issues.
  • Ability to independently drive complex
    projects to completion.
