portfolio of programs and projects ranging from emergency services to economic
development and civil society building.
CARE Programming in Uganda targets vulnerable communities such as the
extreme poor, internally displaced people, and women and children to provide
assistance and opportunities for sustainable development. CARE addresses the
underlying causes of poverty through its varied interventions
Job Summary: The Grants and Contract Coordinator will be
responsible for preparing timely and accurate financial reports to donors,
ensuring that operational aspects are in compliance with CARE Financial and
Donor grant compliance regulations and budgetary requirements. S/he will
provide analysis on program implementation vs. expenditure & provide
interpretation comments for budget holders and suggest to budget holders
corrective measures; offer support in training staff on compliance of terms and
conditions of the grant and on Adaptive Planning and People Soft report review.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The Grants and Contracts Coordinator
    should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting or
    Business Administration
  • Additional part or full professional
    accounting qualifications in any of CPA, ACCA, CIA, ICSA
  • Computer literacy skills in Microsoft
    Office Suite and relevant database software is a ‘must’
  • Working knowledge of International NGO operations
    and sub-grantee management is preferred
  • At least three to five years’ experience
    at a middle or senior management level in accounting and grant management
    preferably
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of grant
    management processes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding
    of the NGO environment, NGO operations and their interests.
  • High degree of integrity with ability for
    objectivity and impartial assessment of partnership performance
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication,
    presentation, planning ,organising, supervisory and decision making skills
    are desired
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Possess the ability to carry out audits,
    trainings and assess financial risks.
  • Be an excellent team player with superior analytical
    skills.
  • Proactive, cost conscious and reliable
