Job Summary: The Brand and Marketing Manager will ensure
that all the bank’s activities and duties are carried out in full compliance
with regulatory requirements, Barclays Operational Risk Framework and internal Barclays
Policies and Standards. The incumbent will support the Head of Marketing to
implement high quality, cost effective marketing communications activity for
the Barclays Africa SBU within local country. The job will also ensure that the
‘world class solution’ vision is enabled and supported through the effective
translation of the SBU business needs into leading edge campaigns.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
 
Financial Management Control and
Analysis
:        
  • Manage
    marketing production activity of customer facing material.
  • Participate
    in the creation and presentation of all country based marketing plans and
    implementation schedules with the Head of Marketing.
  • Deliver
    effective management of risk, governance, and compliance and controls
    issues within the team ensuring that all direct reports are aware of and
    adhere to their individual responsibilities.
  • Effective
    cost management and control of team budget.
Campaign Management
  • Co-ordinate
    campaigns and promotions to ensure that the in country communications
    calendar is delivered in time and on budget
  • Ensure
    delivered campaigns form industry best practice and conclusively meet the
    needs of the customer segment and the country’s business needs
  • Continuously
    seek new improved quality of communication as part of achieving ‘world
    class solutions’
  • Interact
    with key stakeholders of each campaign to ensure that they are all country
    relevant and to ensure understanding of Marketing Strategies and
    implementation methods across all areas of the business
  • Implement
    market research activities with the Head of Marketing
  • Significantly
    contribute to the strategic planning across the business by highlighting
    key market insights and research results and using the same results to
    plan
  • Work in
    close collaboration with Country Product, Internal Communications and PR
    team to ensure integration and alignment of communications plans and key
    messages
  • Effective
    and insightful evaluation of campaigns and promotions and report back to
    the Head of Marketing
  • Act as
    Brand Custodian within local business and local point of contact on all VI
    issues.
Key Performance Indicators:
  • Understand
    Barclays Africa SBU business requirements.
  • Operating
    the campaign management processes.
  • Developing
    good relationships with the SBU and the External Partners.
  • Develop a
    full understanding of the Barclays Africa SBU marketing requirements, its
    customers, products and key issues.
  • Delivering
    high volumes of campaigns and promotions through the campaign management
    process.
  • Manage
    the translation of the business requirements of the SBU into ‘world
    class’, customer centric campaigns.
  • Develop
    market research skills to ensure effective implementation of all surveys
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The prospective
    Barclays bank employee must hold a Marketing degree
  • The applicant must possess a minimum of three to four years’ experience in delivering marketing campaigns including involvement in delivering complex campaigns.
  • Demonstrated
    experience (at least 3 years) in delivering world class marketing
    communications campaigns – particularly below the line.
  • Prior experience
    of managing complex campaigns.
  • Proven
    track record of successfully managing internal and external partner
    relationships.
  • Good
    working knowledge and experience of channel marketing across multiple
    routes to market.
  • Strong
    communication capabilities.
  • Prior experience
    in implementation and management of market research activities
  • Prior experience
    in team working, with evidence of adding value to the team through
    personal contributions
  • Background
    and exposure to working with other functions and external suppliers
  • Good
    market banking knowledge and innovation  
  • Customer
    centricity – instinctive approach to matching customer wants with business
    propositions augmented through outstanding observation skills.
  • High business
    perspective – appreciation of commercial consequences of marketing
    decisions.
  • Good planning
    skills – strong skill in producing and delivering Banking business level
    marketing plans.
