About STF: 
Straight Talk Foundation is a health
and development communication NGO, targeting young people with programs aimed
at strengthening access to sexual & reproductive health (SRH) information
and service delivery in Uganda. The Main Offices are located at plot 4 Acacia
Avenue Kololo. Straight Talk Foundation in partnership with World Education Inc
/Bantwana Initiative seeks qualified persons to provide technical support for a
US Department of Labor (USDOL) program for African Youth Empowerments and
development Initiative in Uganda. The 4 year project targets vulnerable youth
ages 15 to 18 and promotes education and vocational training and descent work
opportunities to youth of appropriate age.
Job Summary: The Community Based
Officer will purpose to primarily improve the capacity of youth structures in
communities of Bugiri, Iganga, Lira and Gulu through promoting access to education
and vocational training and descent work opportunities to youth of appropriate
age.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Oversee community
    work projects and supervise activities assigned.
  • Ensure
    that all records relating to work supervision are accurate and completed
    in accordance with organizational requirements.
  • Prepare short
    updates on area reports on the youths
  • Carrying
    out targeted follow up and monitoring of youths targeted groups
  • Perform mapping
    of youths who will be part of the program
  • Perform any
    other duties assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The Community
    Based Officer should possess a bachelor’s degree in; social work and
    social administration, Development Studies, Guidance and counseling, and
    related fields from a recognized institution
  • Prior experience
    in Child protection, psychosocial support and working with OVC and other
    vulnerable groups is needed especially youths.
  • Significant
    experience in documentation, reporting and records management is a
    requirement.
  • Excellent
    interpersonal skills
  • Basic
    computer literacy skills
  • Flexibility
    and willingness to adjust to changing responsibilities.
  • Possess
    the ability to speak the local language is an added advantage
