VSO Jitolee is a member of the VSO International Federation based in
Nairobi with an East African regional mandate to promote volunteerism and
recruit skilled professionals from East and Southern Africa to serve as
volunteers in VSO’s programmes in 30 countries in Africa, Asia and the Pacific.
VSO works in partnership with government agencies, regional bodies,
international and local development organisations to address issues of poverty
and disadvantaged. VSO Jitolee’s international volunteering programme is part
of a larger recruitment network in the VSO federation and seeks to work to
standards that are set internationally to deliver excellence and position VSO
as the global leader in volunteering.
Job Summary: The Programme
Administrator, you will be the point of contact and provide relevant
information to Ugandan professionals seeking opportunities within VSO Jitolee’s
International Volunteering programme; provide administrative support for
volunteers recruited from Uganda; and support volunteer recruitment, selection,
training, resettlement and volunteer engagement processes.
Key Duties &
Responsibilities:
  • Timely, responsive and efficient
    administrative systems to support volunteers in Uganda.
  • Provision of high quality customer
    relationship management through all stages of the volunteer journey.
  • Effective coordination of recruitment,
    selection, and resettlement and the alumni programme in Uganda.
  • Accurate tracking, coding and reporting of
    VSO Jitolee budgets in Uganda.
  • Responsible for the proper management of
    VSO Jitolee assets in Uganda.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • The applicant should possess a Bachelor’s
    degree in Business Administration or equivalent
  • A minimum of two years’ relevant work experience.
  • Good understanding and knowledge of
    budgeting and accounting procedures, IT skills and the ability to use
    databases.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of
    development issues and an appreciation of the role of volunteers in
    development;
  • Be a good team player with a high degree
    of personal commitment, integrity and enthusiasm
  • Ability to give and receive timely feedback.
  • Excellent written and oral communication;
    awareness of diversity issues; self-drive and ability to work effectively
    with minimum supervision will also be critical for the role.
