Job Title: Plant Controller

Job Summary: The Plant
Controller is responsible for ensuring the availability of good quality
information to enable decision making, challenges the plant production
efficiency and plant expenditure to ensure continuous improvement and managing
of risks to provide assurance of a sound control environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinating and spearheading a tailored
    approach to the Group’s performance management cycle and ensuring that the
    group guidelines are consistently applied. This entails review of the
    budget and monthly re-forecasts to ensure that the business objectives are
    reflected in the same. Challenges and ensures clear action plans are in
    place to ensure validity of the planning processes to deliver the budget.
  • Delivers timely and accurate reports
    required by the Plant and Business Unit Management that are compliant with
    financial accounting procedures and legal requirements. These reports
    include cost of production reports, fixed cost reports etc.
  • Performing detailed analysis of plant
    performance reports to ensure consistency of information with other
    reports e.g. monthly production reports, advance downtime analysis program
    (ADAP) reports, costing tool report etc, explaining variences of key
    performance indicators compared to the plan and advising management on
    corrective actions and enable decision making.
  • Monitoring the robustness of the plant
    control environment and driving any necessary corrective actions to ensure
    compliance with group policies and procedures. This involves close liaison
    with the Internal Audit section on risk assessments and audit
    recommendations.
  • Contributing to the definition and
    application of the Group “common language” and ensures its implementation
    within the plant to ensure compliance to group and international
    accounting standards.
  • Reviewing and challenging plant investment
    project requests to ensure financial viability, consistency with the
    Business Unit strategy and plant improvement plans and compliance with
    group rules. This also involves the design, operational effectiveness and
    documentation of the capital expenditure management business process.
  • Ensuring staff development and career planning
    for the staff under Plant Control. This is done through performance
    appraisals, individual development plans and training.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The applicant should possess a bachelor’s
    degree preferably in a business-related or statistics or engineering
    discipline.
  • Additional professional qualification with
    an acknowledged accounting body siuch as ACCA, CPA or equivalent.
  • At least six (6) years’ experience, three
    (3) of which should be in a manufacturing setting at a managerial level,
    or a manager in an audit environment.
  • Good computer literacy skills i.e.
    exposure to an ERP environment, advanced reporting tools and very good
    knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good tax, treasury and asset management
    skills.
  • Excellent project and change management
    skills.
