Job Summary: The Financial
Accountant will offer operational, financial, regulatory information and
quality financial support service to management through the collection,
analysis, processing, interpretation and communication of financial information
for financial reporting and decision making while ensuring compliance to all
relevant financial standards.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring
    compliance with corporate and country financial practices
  • Do
    monthly reporting to management, the holding company, and regulators
  • Work
    collaboratively with business unit heads in production and analysis of
    financial data
  • Management
    of budgetary control systems including discussion of budget variances with
    management
  • Providing
    a monthly analytical reports and commentary on financial performance
  • Managing
    the preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Monitoring
    compliance with financial controls
  • Ensuring
    that superiors are fully briefed on financial function issues
  • Responding
    directly to management and Board level queries
  • Obtaining
    detailed commercial knowledge of the relevant business and understanding
    business drivers
  • Offer
    support to the business when preparing or evaluating new proposals (new
    contracts, revisions of contracts, investment decisions).
  • Contributing
    towards and ensuring that the department operates smoothly on a day to day
    basis and providing for the development of the Finance function within the
    institution
  • Perform
    any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Finance.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • The
    applicant should possess a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business,
    banking, finance or related fields
  • Additional
    professional qualifications in accounting e.g. ACCA, CPA etc, though part
    qualification is acceptable
  • At
    least three years of relevant experience preferably in the Banking /
    Financial Industry
  • Good
    understanding of Financial Reporting and related standards
  • Good
    knowledge and understanding of Financial modelling and fore-casting
  • Excellent
    analytical and numerical skills
  • Excellent
    Computer literacy skills including MS Office Suite and specifically
    advanced skills in MS Excel
  • Excellent
    Interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively
    function in a team setting
  • Keen
    eye for detail
  • High
    personal initiative, self-supervision and follow up skills
  • Strong
    Integrity and confidentiality
  • Ability
    to work in fast paced and results oriented environment
