Job Summary: The Finance
Payment Officer will facilitate the development of effective and efficient
financial reporting system which ensures accurate and timely reporting and
compliance to the regulatory authorities

 

Key Duties &
Responsibilities:

  • Ensure management
    information/Bank of Uganda reports/returns are processed promptly and
    accurately.
  • Maintains the Head
    Office creditors’ payments (accounts payable) and the Bank’s fixed assets
    system.
  • Processing payments
    and handling cash vouchers
  • Passing necessary
    voucher to all office expense accounts
  • Ensure that costs
    and revenues are attributed correctly to the functions
  • Handling salary
    payments
  • Assist Head of
    Financial Reporting in preparation of the Group financial reports
    including tax computation
  • Ensuring compliance
    with the guidelines from the regulating bodies.
  • Ensure deduction of
    all withholding Tax due on:
    • Bill
      paid to external professional/royalty service providers
    • Rental
      on business and accommodations premises
    • Interest
      paid to clients monthly
  • Ensure effective and
    excellent communication and working relationships with colleagues in the
    department and the bank in general
  • Attend meetings with
    Senior managers and other staff in the bank

 

Qualifications, Skills
& Experience:

  • The
    applicant should possess a University degree preferably in Accounting or
    Finance Or a full/partial Professional qualification in Accounting
  • Knowledge
    of Barclays Group Governance and Control Policies
  • Working
    knowledge of the financial reporting system. 
  • Knowledge
    of the Bank’s internal control mechanism.
