Job Summary: The Project Accountant will be
responsible for executing the project’s accounting process and generating
financial statements and reports, generating reliable and timely analysis and
decision-making, in accordance with General Accounting Principles, local laws
and procedures of ChildFund.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
  • The Accountant will be responsible for bank reconciliations for
    Project accounts, monitoring all funds transferred to program area bank
    accounts and ensures that financial activities are in accordance with
    donor regulations and laws of host country.
  • Responsible for development of financial reports and analyses,
    including cost analysis, expense to budget comparisons, and local program,
    management and donor reports.
  • Compiles project monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Reviews and approves general ledger transactions.
  • Ensures that all financial transactions and operations comply with
    organization policies, systems and procedures and donor requirements.
  • Monitors project fund utilization compliance and provides training
    for corrective actions, if necessary.
  • Coordinates annual external audit; prepares required documentation
    and support implementation of the resulting plan of action and implements
    audit corrective measures.
  • Complies with local tax laws and other local legal requirements.
  • Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
  • Review supporting documentation prior to payment ensuring compliance
    to the policies of the Organization and local laws.
  • Develop accruals, depreciation and reconciliation as well as
    analysis of daily ledgers and balance sheets and preliminary assessment,
    adjustments, including AP closure correction or supplemental information.
  • Prepare the P 8 L Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and other
    required reports.
Qualifications, Skills &
Experience:
  • The applicant should hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or
    related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated relevant work experience in accounting, including
    analysis, financial reporting, budgeting, and financial software/
    reporting systems.
  • Experience in an organization with UN/EU/USG Grants Standard
    Provisions and Financial Requirements preferable.
  • Five or more years NGO experience working with grants is required.
  • Good understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles,
    International Accounting Standards, internal controls, and segregation of
    duties.
  • Good understanding of administrative, financial and general
    management principles and skilled in financial reporting, budgeting and
    taxes.
  • Experience in the areas of management, development, control and
    supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidential financial information.
  • Full Professional Accounting qualification required.
