dignified, fair-wage employment, as well as financial, entrepreneurial and life-skills
training to women in Uganda. Sseko Designs is passionate about raising
awareness of the importance of educating and empowering women in developing
economies, the impact of socially proactive consumerism and the growth of
social entrepreneurship.
Job Summary: The Operations
Manager to assist in the oversight of Sseko Uganda. The areas of focus are
outlined below with an estimated percentage of time that will be devoted to
each area of impact.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. General Operations and Administration: 60%
  • Communicates
    directly with International Director of Operations.
  • Oversees
    establishment of new product line.
2. Financial oversight/cash management: This will
include trips to the bank to make transfers, signing forms, withdraw and
deposit money.
  • Oversees
    recruiting, interviews, and training of management team.
  • Conducts
    performance/comp reviews of management team.
  • Manages interns.
  • Acts as the
    general point person and office management.
  • Manages
    relationships with materials suppliers and contract partners.
3. Social Impact Programs development: 20%
  • Works alongside
    Sseko’s HR Manager to continue to develop a comprehensive personal and
    professional development program for our employees.
  • Develops and
    executes measurement and evaluation tools.
  • Evaluates
    effectiveness of programs and use this information to further development
    programs plan. The focus of these programs will include:
    • Personal
      finance training
    • Health and
      wellness
    • Computer
      training
    • English
      training
    • Continuing
      education
    • Measurement and
      Impact
4. Miscellaneous: 20%
Although
you will have distinct areas of focus, you will play a role in almost every
aspect of Sseko in Uganda. This could include but is not limited to:
  • Event planning
    Media tours
  • Quality control
  • Product testing
  • Logistics
  • Textile
    Procurement
  • Development,
    partnerships and collaboration
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The applicant
    should hold a B.A./B.S. required and some experience working in a
    developing country.  
  • The ideal
    candidate is an ambitious individual, passionate about creating positive
    social change through sustainable social enterprise.
  • The individual
    should be entrepreneurial by nature and driven to build scalable,
    financially feasible, and effective programs. This person must be able to
    communicate in a way that is effective, compelling and consistent with the
    Sseko voice and brand.

    working in operations and management.
