Job Summary: We are in the very
early stages of development and we are looking for someone with experience in
business and production management, preferably in the non-profit sector, to
assist us in this process. Candidates will not only manage our day-to-day
facility, but will assist our start-up company in refining and perfecting the
process as a whole. The position is a unique opportunity to leverage a passion
for international development and business to help build a social enterprise.
The candidates will work closely with the Ugandan artisans and Quality Control
team to develop and meet the monthly production requirements in the most
efficient and successful way. Furthermore, candidates will manage all Uganda
based finances. Candidates will report to the Founder, but will have much
authority in communicating what needs to take place in order for our production
facility to operate at its finest. The position definitely has the potential to
turn into advancement.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Create and draft
    timeline for Production schedule – planning and strategizing for permanent
    work-flow based on orders
  • Material
    planning and distribution
  • Ordering of
    materials and Materials Procurement
  • Staff Management
  • Supervise
    production team to ensure process is running smoothly and efficiently
  • Track and manage
    monthly output
  • Manage ongoing
    expense reports for materials
  • Manage all
    inventory
  • Create, manage
    and analyze performance data of women – asses and plan for trainings as
    needed
  • Create, plan,
    and manage trainings on new designs for women
  • Accountable for
    logistics of all domestic and international shipping
  • Cost out new
    pieces that are introduced
  • Create,
    implement and maintain strategies for process productivity & process
    variability
  • Assist in
    business development strategizing
  • Manage Uganda
    based finances – this includes distributing employee compensation, keeping
    record of expenses, financial planning and budgeting.
  • Send weekly
    financial reports to US Accountant
  • Report regularly
    to Founder and collaborate to address general management and business
    matters
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The applicant should
    hold a Degree in relevant field
  • Prior management
    experience
  • At least one
    year’s experience working in a developing country
  • Experience in
    production and manufacturing
  • Experience in
    financial management and budgeting
  • Skilled and
    experienced in production/financial software programs, creating
    spreadsheets, etc.
  • Excel in a
    rapidly-evolving, entrepreneurial environment with little or no
    supervision
  • Passionate about
    working with people of diverse cultures and backgrounds
  • Flexible and
    open-minded, energetic and self-motivated
  • Innovative
    nature with a versatile approach to problem solving
  • Exhibits passion
    for continuous learning as a necessary part of success
Job Terms and Conditions:
  • Position start date is January 14, 2014
  • Minimum one-year contract, but again – position
    has the potential for advancement.
  • Position includes a monthly $1,000 living
    stipend and one round trip flight to Uganda
