National
Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) a leading organisation in the Water
sector in Uganda with a Vision “To be a leading Water Utility in the World.”
NWSC is a utility parastatal 100% owned by The Government of Uganda. It was
established in 1972 under decree No: 34. The mandate of the Corporation as
defined in the National Water & Sewerage Corporation Statute of 1995,
Section 5 (1), is to operate and provide water and sewerage services in areas
entrusted to it, on a sound, commercial and viable basis. The NWSC operations
were initially in three towns of Kampala, Jinja, and Entebbe.
Job Summary: The Commercial
Officer will offer supervision and management of CUSTIMA/HI Affinity
Billing System to ensure timely and accurate processing of billing input data
and timely production of accurate bills.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of
    billing data input and production of accurate bills.
  • Ensure timely update of the billing database in
    line with the set standards and procedures.
  • Ensure planning and managing of the Area
    billing cycle
  • Perform detailed analysis of customer
    consumption and growth trends and advise the Area accordingly
  • Report all technical and operational defects
    realized during the use of the billing system for immediate action.
  • Evaluate the quality of information (meter
    readings, new connections, adjustments, etc) submitted for processing on a
    monthly basis and advise management on areas that require further
    improvements.
  • Produce and review data validation reports and
    make appropriate recommendations
  • Ensure proper filing of all source documents
    used for generating transactions within the Billing system.
  • Offer user support in the billing system and
    other IT Applications to all end users in the Area and Branches.
  • Ensure proper utilization and protection of all
    IT equipment
  • Ensure good customer care and timely resolution
    of customer complaints
  • Ensure database integrity and security through
    enforcement of controls, passwords and backup of the database in
    conformity with NWSC backup policy.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The applicants should hold a Bachelor’s Degree
    in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Computing,
    Statistics, Business Statistics or other related field.
  • One (1) years working experience in IT or Billing
    is an added advantage.
  • Excellent
    communications and coaching skills.
  • Strong attention to
    detail and highly organized.
  • High level of
    integrity.
  • Ability to work for
    long hours with minimum supervision.
  • Self-drive and
    resilience
