About Project:
CARE is one of the consortium partner implementing
Sustainable Comprehensive Response for Vulnerable Children and their Households
(SCORE), a USAID funded project with a goal to decrease the vulnerability of
critically vulnerable children and their households. SCORE project is using
four objectives to achieve this goal; by improving VC households socio-economic
status, food security and nutrition status, increased child protection and
legal services, and strengthening household capacity to access and provide
critical services to VC. It is upon this background that CARE International in
Uganda seeks motivated and qualified professional to fill the positions
of Coordinator Child Protection -Family strengthening which is objective
four of the SCORE project based in Kampala with frequent travels in the
field.
Job Summary: The Coordinator will be part of the team that is entrusted to
implement this comprehensive project and in particular responsible for the
program objective of increasing capacity of vulnerable women, children and
their households to access, acquire or provide critical services in selected
project districts under CARE International in Uganda. On the other hand, the
focus will also be on organizational strengthening of the implementing partners
in CARE selected districts of implementation (Bugiri, Mayuge, Namayingo, Luuka,
Iganga, Kamuli, Buyende, Ntungamo, and Rukungiri) issues related to family
strengthening. He/she will offer direct and general support to partners in the
areas of institutional strengthening/ capacity building, planning, reporting,
implementing, monitoring and evaluating program strategies and activities.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
  • Take lead in strengthening
    the capacity of implementing partners, to specifically empower vulnerable
    women, children and their households to access,
  • Acquire or provide
    critical services  participate in the identification, selection and
    establishment of family strengthening networks/linkages among SCORE
    targeted communities to enable comprehensive vulnerable children support
    services,
  • Identify capacity gaps,
    develop and implement capacity building plans for implementing partners to
    promote SCORE family strengthening strategies,
  • Translate needs assessment
    findings in the areas of family strengthening into overall project
    programming, and manage relationships and represent CARE with partners and
    other stakeholders in pursuit of the program objectives.
     
Qualifications,
Skills & Experience:
  • The applicant should hold
    a bachelors degree plus a Masters (or equivalent) degree in a related
    field of  in social science, anthropology, psychology, Family Services
    , social policy, Sociology, SWASA, Public Health  and Development
    Studies
  • A certificate in a
    TOT  will be an added advantage
  • Good understanding and
    concrete experience in application of psychosocial support approaches is a
    must have
  • At least five years of
    relevant working experience using a family based program implementation
    approach
  • An ability to communicate
    effectively and strong conceptual ability, and writing skills
  • Atheist 2-3 years
    experience in managing partnerships, and organizational capacity building
    of local organizations
  • Evidence of excellent
    adult learning and facilitation skills are a prerequisite
  • Experience in imparting
    life skills to persons of different ages
