About ULA:
Uganda
Land Alliance is a consortium of International and National NGO’s and
Individuals focusing on land, promotion of land rights and protecting the
interests of the poor, vulnerable and marginalized through “Enhancing
civic participation in land governance and resource management country wide.”
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
  • Provide
    overall leadership in terms of planning and management of research and
    documentation in Uganda Land Alliance and ensure that the overall
    departmental program goals are met
  • Develop the
    research and documentation unit and oversee the implementation of
    different knowledge management projects within the unit to achieve the
    intended objectives and outcomes in a cost effective and sustainable
    manner as stipulated in the different project designs.
  • Take lead in the
    documentation and communication of programme experiences and achievements,
    and draw best practices for learning within ULA and its partners
  • Take lead on
    departmental planning and reporting
  • Build the ULA
    Resource Library into a leading knowledge provider on land.
  • Manage,
    effectively and efficiently, the programme  human resource while
    applying ULA policies and systems, as well as donor requirements
  • Engage in
    broader ULA programme and administration initiatives like fundraising
  • Develop
    viable linkages between research and advocacy
  • Provide
    leadership in the development of the research agenda for ULA that is in
    tandem with contemporary land issues, linking the global agenda to the
    national context.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The applicant
    should hold a Masters degree in the humanities or equivalent with a
    bias on land related fields required.
  • 5 years work experience in knowledge management
  • Extensive
    demonstrable experience in research and documentation of land, natural
    resources and environment is desirable
  • Demonstrable
    ability to develop and manage a research program
  • Demonstrable
    ability to apply various research methodologies and approaches, applying
    the different software in research.
  • Demonstrable
    ability to innovate and initiate programs from scratch
  • Strong
    networking, team work and management skills
  • Ability to
    work under pressure in diverse environments with minimum supervision
  • Ability to
    represent and articulate the organization’s philosophy at various fora
  • Demonstrable
    effective written communications skills including the ability to prepare
    reports, proposals, policies and procedures
  • Effective
    public relations and public speaking skills
  • Research and
    program development skills
  • Demonstrable
    effective written communications skills including the ability to prepare
    reports, proposals, policies and procedures
  • Effective
    public relations and public speaking skills

  • Experience in
