About EPRC:
The Economic Policy Research Centre (EPRC) is Uganda’s leading
economics research institution. Its mandate is to provide research and other
forms of analytical support to Uganda’s development process. EPRC uses
resources from the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF), Government of
Uganda and Think Tank Initiative (TTI) under the International Development
Research Centre (IDRC).
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct empirical sectoral policy research
    and analysis
  • Engage in commissioned work for and on
    behalf of the Centre
  • Based on research findings and sound
    analysis, contribute to national policy discourse
  • Guide research and capacity building
    activities of Research Fellows and Assistant Research Fellows
  • Mentor and coach Research Fellows and
    Assistant Research Fellows
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The candidates should possess a PhD. in
    Economics or any related area in economics (by coursework and research)
    from a reputable University
  • Stay current with sector policies in
    education. health, agriculture, water and sanitation
  • Good understanding of development
    challenges in the above mentioned sectors
  • Must possess econometric impact evaluation
    techniques
  • Possess publications in at least two of
    the above mentioned sectors
  • Good understanding and knowledge of the
    linkage between sectoral issues and macroeconomic policies
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • At least three (3) years of postdoctoral
    research work experience
  • Professional experience of working ma
    reputable research institutions
  • Demonstrated high level writing skills as
    primary author in published research papers. review etc.
  • Strong training background in theory and
    methods of economic analysis
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and good
    communication skills
  • Self-motivation and capability to work
    under tight deadlines in a competitive environment
  • Evidence of publication of own written
    articles in either local or international journals
  • Proven ability to use STATA. EViews, GAMS
    or GAUSS for data analysis
  • Stay abreast with current global and
    national economic issues
  • High degree of integrity
