Key Duties and responsibilities:
  • Offer legal advisory and interpretation
    services to Management and Council to ensure statutory compliance with
    existing laws and regulatory requirements
  • Assess and draft contracts, agreements and
    internal policies and ensure that they are in compliance with all
    statutory or legal requirements
  • Review progress of outstanding litigation
    and liaise with and manage external lawyers
  • Gradually monitor compliance with
    statutory obligations and advise management
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for
    the consideration of Management
  • Prepare, negotiate, review and draft
    documentation for business transactions and prepare and advise management
    in compliance with all statutory or legal requirements
  • Offer legal protection and risk management
    advice to Management especially on contract management
  • Follow-up and update Management on court
    matters and attending court hearings for and on behalf of the University.
  • Review and advise on MOUs between KAB and
    other organizations
  • Perform any other duties that may be
    assigned from time to time by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The candidate should hold a Bachelor of
    Laws degree from a recognized institution
  • A Diploma in Legal practice or its
    equivalent from a reputable institution
  • The applicant should also be an enrolled
    Advocate of the High Court of Uganda.
  • Three or more years experience in a
    responsible position in medium sized organization.
