About UIA:
Uganda Investment Authority (UIA), set up under the investment Code
1991 is a statutory agency mandated to initiate and support measures that
enhance investment in Uganda and to advise Government on appropriate policies
conducive for investment promotion and growth.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Draft and review Industrial and Business
    Parks legal documents to ensure compliance to the Laws and Regulations of
    Uganda.
  • Liaise and consult with the office of the
    Solicitor General on legal matters affecting Industrial and Business Parks
    of the Authority
  • Offer legal advice regarding actual or
    potential legal issues affecting the national plan for the development of
    Industrial and Business Parks, and any land related matters.
    Handle all land transactions of the Authority including registration of
    leases for Industrial and Business Parks developers.
  • Work with key stakeholders to simplify all
    administrative procedures to facilitate new investments in Industrial and
    Business Parks.
  • Monitor compliance of contracted
    obligations under lease and concession agreements, and handle Park legal
    issues as they may arise;
  • Participate in negotiations with
    investors, concessionaires, service providers etc
    Institute and defend Legal suits for and against the Authority.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The candidate should possess an LLB (Hons)
    degree from a recognised Institution
  • A post graduate diploma in legal practice
  • The applicant must be an enrolled advocate
    of the High Court.
  • Three or more years legal working
    experience preferably in a commercial environment and/or Government
    parastatal.
  • Computer literacy skills i.e. proficiency
    in Microsoft office Suite
