is an International Humanitarian NGO. For over thirty years it has been
implementing Food Security and Livelihoods, Nutrition, Water, Sanitation and
Hygiene programs in Lira, Apac, Oyam, Otuke, Gulu, Kaabong, Napak and Moroto
Districts. 
ACF is looking for an Income
Generating Activity Officer ACF for  its
Food security and Livelihoods Projects in Kaabong and Napak districts of
Karamoja.
Job
Summary:
  The Income Generating Activity Officer (IGA
Officer) will provide technical support to key stakeholders for income
generating activities in Napak and Kaabong districts.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The
    IGA Officer will ensure effective program management 
  • The
    Officer will also provide technical assistance to local populations in
    designing profitable income generating activities and
    alternative/complementary business activities (Apiary production, agro
    forestry, agriculture, Tree nursery production…..etc);
  • Assist
    small scale local farmers to identify and develop market links for their
    products such as honey, tree seedlings, crop produce, etc;
  • Gather
    and collect relevant data for socio-economic monitoring and studies for
    best IGA development in Karamoja;
  • Guarantee
    timely development and implementation of work plans and budgets;
  • Distribute
    inputs to project beneficiaries and maintain accurate records of the same;
  • In
    collaboration with the project’s monitoring and evaluation Officers based
    in Kaabong and Napak.
  • Proactively
    participate in baseline and end line data collection.
  • Identify
    the need for any additional project based staff to support further
    development and continued support to IGA activities;
  • Work
    closely in liaison with other technical officers (Soil and Water
    Conservation officer, Agro forestry Officer, M&E officer, etc) to
    generate success stones emanating from the project;
  • Establish
    and maintain a good rapport with project beneficiaries, as well as local
    government officials, community leaders and relevant local organizations;
  • Responsible
    for the development of annual work plans and budgets including annual
    milestones;
  • Harmonize
    the implementation of IGA activities with the district officers, extension
    staff of Kaabong, Moroto and Napak, ensuring good collaboration and
    networking with other partners operating in the districts;
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience:
  • The
    applicant should possess a degree in Agricultural economics, Agribusiness
    management, economics and business development. A post graduate  in enterprise and business development
    (with a focus on agriculture and or small scale enterprises) is an added
    advantage.
  • A
    minimum of four of more years work experience with a focus on business and
    enterprise development or related interventions;
  • Good
    knowledge and understanding of agricultural business development and
    market linkages.
  • Good
    understanding of Non government, government and foreign aid project
    operations.
  • Computer
    literacy skills with standard business software (including Word, Excel and
    Power Point).
  • Willingness
    to travel within the remote villages of Kaabong, Napak districts in
    Karamoja sub region 50% of his/her work time.
  • Knowledge
    of local language and secio-economic setting of Ngakarimojong is an asset.
