AFENET:
The African Field
Epidemiology Network (AFENET) is a not for profit, networking alliance and
service organization that brings together field epidemiology training programs
(FETPs) across Africa working side by side with Ministries of Health, regional
and international partners. AFENET works to strengthen epidemiological and
disease surveillance capabilities of Africa countries that are critical to
meeting the requirements of the Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response
(IDSR) strategy, and the International Health Regulations (IHR). Established in
2005, AFENET has supported more than 20 African countries across sub-Saharan
Africa advance their capabilities in early detection and response to infectious
and non infectious diseases. AFENET is looking to hire capable and qualified
persons into the positions listed below, to support the smooth running of the
organizations affairs at the secretariat and also in collaboration with AFENET
partners and member countries.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Administration
    of people and performance.
  • Creating
    an environment of creativity and innovation, open communication and good
    client relationship.
  • In
    charge of the operations support function and services to the Organization’s
    programs and projects.
  • Coordinate
    the Human Resource function of the Organization.
  • Lead
    and coordinate the Procurement and Disposal function for both the
    Secretariat and other Network programs and ensure supply requisitions and
    deliveries are processed promptly.
  • In
    consultation with the country offices, coordinate the budget process, and
    program work plan implementation.
  • Manage
    preparation of administrative services, supply and work contracts between
    AFENET and relevant parties including purchases of office equipment/
    services.
  • Administer
    the coordination of travel of personnel and visitors with in the AFENET
    network.
  • Maintain
    supplies inventory, and carry out periodical organizational asset stock
    taking and custodian of property records.
  • Provide
    advice to management on appropriate Property Development plans. Manage the
    Network fleet, repairs and log records and ensure compliance with the set
    operational procedures.
  • Carry
    out investigations of administration problems within the organization and
    provide appropriate administrative solutions. In charge of the protocol
    Security and safety for staff and premises, transport and logistics
    services of the organization.
  • Coordinating
    AFENET biennial conferences and other meetings/conferences.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience:
  • The
    applicant should hold a Masters’ Degree in Human Resources, Business
    Administration and or Management with proven experience in Administration
    and
  • At
    least five years relevant experience in similar duties.
  • Membership
    to Professional organizations is of added advantage.
  • Excellence
    in relevant Ms. Office computer applications
  • Ability
    to speak French and or Portuguese is an added advantage

  • Operational
    effectiveness, managing data, managing documents, correspondence and

  • Excellent
    computing skills in relevant Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel,
    Project, PowerPoint Presentation.
  • Good
    understanding of social security and employees’ insurance requirements of
    Uganda and other African countries
