Job Summary: The
Clearing Officer will be responsible for the daily support to the front office
in processing of transactions related to Inward & Outward Clearing
Key Duties &
Responsibilities:
  • Processing of Queries & Complaints
    (Both Internal & External Customers)
  • Any other duties assigned By superiors
  • Retrieval of the Clearance and settlement
    reports
  • Represent Barclays at the Clearing House
  • Uploading of inward clearing files
  • Processing inward clearing cheques both
    UGX and Forex
  • Processing of inward EFTS
  • Performing call over for Inward EFTS (both
    1st and 2nd session)
  • Running late marking and outward clearing
  • Performing Retrospective Sanctions
    screening for inward EFT
  • Processing Outward Clearing (Process in
    Sybrin, Balancing and Dressing cheques)
  • Filing and archiving
  • Authorisation of the various GEFU File
    Uploads
Qualifications, Skills &
Experience:
  • The applicant should hold a degree or
    diploma or relevant experience in a banking environment
  • Knowledge of the Bank’s products, services
    and policies including standard tariffs.
  • A good understanding of overall Operations
    goals & objectives.
  • Good understanding of the clearance
    process.
  • A working knowledge of the procedure
    manuals
  • A good working knowledge and understanding
    of relevant legislation e.g. KYC, Anti-Money laundering, banking code,
    service standards, health & safety standards etc
  • A thorough knowledge of the bank’s
    internal departments, systems & procedures as well as risk &
    rigour requirements
Personal Competencies: Excellent

Good numeracy & analytical skills, Good Networking Skills, Presentation
skills, Listening skills
