Assistant Secretary-Admissions and Registration Job at Law Development Centre (LDC)

Reports to:             Principal
Assistant Secretary, LDC.
 Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate the admission and registration
    of students every term.
  • Issuing of identity cards and proper
    keeping of students’ records.
  • Prepare the orientation of all new
    students a week after the commencement of the term.
  • Prepare a list of all registered students per
    term.
  • Plan and budget for the Centre’s admission
    and registration requirements and submit monthly performance
    reports  in line with set standards.
  • Plan for the acquisition and issuance of
    student’s identity cards.
  • Maintain an updated record of all current
    and former students and conduct registration of students in line with
    the registration guidelines.
  • Maintain an updated and accurate record of
    all current and former students as per programme of admission in line
    with the registration guidelines.
  • Liaise with academic departments,
    coordinate and implement the process student admissions in line with
    admission criteria standards and guidelines.
  • Plan, coordinate and implement the process
    of student registration in line with approved guidelines and procedures.
  • Handle students’ inquiries, complaints and
    concerns.
  • Receive for filing and cross check for
    completeness, accuracy and authenticity of all academic certificates
    and testimonials of existing and  prospective Centre students and
    liaise with immediate supervisor to solve any related constraints in line
    with Centre policy and  departmental work plan.
  • Prepare admission letters of successful
    students for signature and coordinate their issuance as approved by
    the Admissions Board and Academic Board.
  • Supervise, guide and manage staff
    performance under his/her direct report and guide them in accordance with
    the law, policies and regulations in force.
  • Send
    periodic reports to the Principal Assistant Secretary, delegated and
    designated duties.
  • Perform any other duties that may be
    assigned by the Principal Assistant Secretary from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The
    Assistant Secretary should possess a
    Master’s degree in Education
    Management and Administration or Public Administration and Management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social
    Sciences, Arts or any related degree from a recognized university.
  • Additional
    po
    stgraduate qualification in Records Management is an added
    advantage.
  • Three
    years relevant work experience handling administration and
    management issues in an institution of higher learning.
  • Strong management skills.
  • Good understanding in Information records
    and archives management.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Literacy in modern computer applications.
  • Ability to evaluate, measure, and advise
    on policy and procedures for academic operations and programmes.
  • High level of integrity.
  • Team player and strong leadership skills.
  • Good communication skills and a good
    listener.
