About UTAMU:
Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU) was licenced by
National Council for Higher Education (Licence Number: UIPL022) on March 11,
2013 to operate as a Private University in Uganda. UTAMU was established with a
purpose of making a difference in the training of Technology & Management
Professionals within the region. UTAMU is here to offer experiential and
outstanding learning and teaching for the 21st Century student. UTAMU is
committed to achieving this through an enriched learning experience that blends
a variety of teaching and learning methods. Our teaching and learning process
follows a blended model where face-to-face interactions are combined with

Job Summary: The
Administrative Officer (Public Relations) will be tasked with managing the University’s
image through media and strategic communication and influencing opinion of
stakeholders.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Planning, developing and implementing PR
    strategies;
  • Working with management and staff, media
    and key stakeholders of the University in packaging and communicating
    university activities ;Researching, writing and distributing press
    releases
  • Collating and Analyzing media coverage;
  • Writing and editing in-house magazines,
    case studies, speeches, articles and annual reports;
  • Preparing and supervising the production
    of publicity materials e.g. brochures, flyers, direct mail leaflets,
    Promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programmes;
  • Nurturing University collaborations
    through writing research and collaboration briefs
  • Devising and Coordinating photo
    opportunities;
  • Organising events including press
    conferences, exhibitions, open days and press tours;
  • Maintaining and updating information on
    the UTAMU website;
  • Sourcing and managing speaking and
    sponsorship opportunities;
  • Commissioning market research;
  • Fostering community relations through
    events such as open days and through staff/student involvement in
    community initiatives;
  • Managing the PR aspect of a potential
    crisis situation or reputation risk
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The candidate should possess a bachelor’s
    degree in Mass Communication or Journalism from a recognized institution
    of higher learning and a minimum of three years of Public relations /
    Media experience.
  • Personal
    Competences
    : Good team player, eloquent, quick learner, and a
    passionate communicator. Project management skills, writing skills, people
    skills, negotiations, listening and good planning are essential.
