Job Summary: The Accountant
will be responsible for the preparation and the provision of financial
information to management as per the international Accounting Standards and
EPRC’s accounting policies and procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Preparation of payment and cheques for
approved outstanding obligations - Prepare accounting evidence to support
each and every transaction, capture and verify transaction data - Verify that expenses and receipts are
allocated to their right accounts and cost centre as per EPRC chart of
accounting in the financial manual: - Reconcile the Centre’s bank accounts and
other financial records of the Centre in accordance with the requirements
of various funding agencies and International Accounting Standards: - Preparing schedules of sundry debtors, as
well as creditors, and reconciling them with respective control accounts. - Ensure activity advances to staff are
accounted for in time including reviewing field activity reports; - Ensure statutory expenses are recorded appropriately
and data posting into Palladium Enterprise system for review by the
Finance Manager; - Keep an updated assets register of all the
EPRC assets and make a physical checkup to see whether all assets in the
register are in place; - Help in the preparation of monthly,
quarterly and annual accounting reports and submit them to management in
line with the International Accounting Standards and the Centre’s report
writing policy. - Assist in the preparation timely and
accurate financial reports in line with narrative reports that meet the
different requirements; - Assist in the preparation of quarterly
consolidated financial reports and
ad hoc financial reports as required by Management - Send monthly reports to the’ Finance
Manager of assigned, delegated and designated duties; - Perform any other duties as may be
assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The applicant should hold a Bachelor’s
Degree in Commerce, Business administration and Accounting and Finance) or
a relevant field. - Full professional or partial qualification
of ACCA or CPA is a requirement. - A Postgraduate qualification in Business
Administration or Finance accounting will be an added advantage. - Considerable experience of at least three
(3) years in accounting for donor funded projects in a reputable
organization - Practical experience in use of accounting
packages (Palladium Enterprise, PASTEL): Excellent interpersonal (team
player/ability to work cross functionally) skills, written and oral
communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively
within all levels in the organization - High degree of integrity and
professionalism - The candidate should be highly motivated
to drive self and others to the highest levels of individual and team
performance - Ability to work independently requiring
minimum supervision - Ability to withstand stressful work
situations and have willingness to work for long hours and under tight
timelines
Age: 30-45 years
