Makerere University Business School (MUBS) is a Public Tertiary
Institute affiliated to Makerere University with the mandate to provide
business and management education in the country. MUBS seeks to attract and
retain talented individuals in a positive, diverse, healthy and safe work
environment.

Job Summary: The School Secretary
will be responsible for the general administration of the School, operation of
all governance activities and the overall maintenance and improvement of the
School’s infrastructure.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • General Administration of the School.
  • Take custody of the School seal.
  • Administration of the School assets.
  • Liaise with the School Bursar, School
    Registrar, Dean of Students and Faculty Deans to prepare the School Annual
    Reports.
  • Supervise legal matters of the School.
  • Maintain the School’s Asset Register.
  • Ensure security of the School’s Assets.
  • Ensure good repair of the School’s Assets.
  • Provide secretariat to the School Council
    and all its Committees.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Principal.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • An Honors Bachelors degree from a
    reputable institution and a Master’s degree in a business course from a
    reputable institution, A PhD shall be an added advantage.
  • A Professional qualification preferably
    Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) or its
    equivalent.
  • A minimum of five (5) years relevant
    working experience at senior managerial level in a reputable institution.
  • Must be a citizen of Uganda aged between
    35 and 50 years. 
Personal Competencies: Innovative
and self-driven with proven leadership and managerial skills, Excellent
relationship management and communication skills, A high level of maturity and
integrity, Results-oriented,  Ability to
plan, execute and monitor departmental plans, Excellent analytical and writing
skills, Delegation capability, Ability to write timely reports, Ability to work
long hours, Computer literacy, with experience in the use of relevant packages.

    that at least two of the four referees have forwarded references
    concerning the application at the time of submission.
  • Certified copies of candidate’s academic
    transcripts and certificates. Original documents should not be sent at
    this stage.
  • Copies of the candidate’s birth
    certificate or copies of relevant pages of passport.
  • Applicants already in service should route
    their applications through their heads of department. Sealed applications
    marked i.e .“CONFIDENTIAL and bearing the title of the post in the top
    right hand corner of the envelope must be forwarded and reach the
