About Project:
The Government of the Republic of Uganda, through the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) is planning to introduce a Student Loan Scheme to increase equitable access to higher education in Uganda; support highly qualified students who may not afford higher education; ensure regional balance in higher education services in Uganda; develop and support courses which are critical to national development an ensure quality education in public institutions through quality assurance and supervision. The MoES applicants herein will form part of the Loan Scheme after which commencement of the formulation of the Student Loan Board.
Job Summary:  The Head of Operations will be responsible for the processing of all applications and the determination of students who are eligible and that funds are disbursed to the qualifying applicants and institutions in time.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate team members and assign tasks and track progress of each task assigned to accomplish goal.
  • Motivate and inspire all team members.
  • Lead and oversee the team whilst setting a good example.
  • Play a key role in problem solving and coordination;  intervene where necessary to resolve issues.
  • Set key weekly, monthly and annual targets / objectives for the team.
  • Give weekly and monthly reports on the team’s activities and the performance against annual targets to the TaskForce Coordinator.
  • Give guidance to the team and direction in regards to the management’s vision.
  • Be the main liaison with key stakeholders like MoES, Universities, NCHE in regards to the policy
  • Handle all difficult cases in regards to the loan applications.
  • Develop relevant business processes on procedures of student loan applications.
  • Verify and confirm the principle loans awarded for billing purposes.
  • Provide budget projections for the student loans and anticipated number of beneficiaries.
  • Verify loanee statements.
  • Verify all disbursement schedules before loans are actually disbursed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the TaskForce Coordinator. 
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant should possess a Bachelor’s degree in a business-related course and possess a post graduate qualification in financial management i.e. ACCA, CPA, CIMA.
  • A relevant master’s degree will an added advantage.
  • At least five years working experience in a recognized financial / credit institution, three of which should be at a senior management level.
  • A good understanding of Students’ Loan scheme will be an advantage.
  • Good command in both written and spoken English. 
Personal Competencies: Strong research skills, Good team player, Result-oriented, Computer literacy, Excellent interpersonal skills, excellent communication and writing skills, high integrity levels, excellent customer care, planning and organizational skills, ability to work under minimal supervision, report writing skills and facilitation skills
Age: 30 Years and Above
