Reports to: Finance Officer
Job Summary: The Finance Assistant will be responsible for the execution of moderately specialized tasks in the accounting and finance function of unicef uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Review payment requests/invoices/accounting documents;
  • Maintain financial records for project or other office accounts for which responsibility is assigned;
  • Prepare recurring reports on assigned accounts, and perform monthly reconciliation of Accounts Receivable;
  • Calculating Overtime and perform payroll processing for national staff;
  • Maintain contacts with local banks to clarify questions pertaining to office bank accounts;
  • Assist newly arriving or departing staff members on opening or closing bank accounts, exchanging currency and other financial matters;
  • Participate in financial spot checks and training of Implementing Partners; 
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  
  • The finance assistant should have completed secondary education.
  • Formal training in accounting for at least one year.
  • Ability to operate a PC, calculator or other machines used to maintain accounts. 
  • Additional relevant commercial training is desirable.
  • A minimum of five years experience in accounting clerical work.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidentiality, Computer literacy and Ability to apply various work methods.
